Well, today was a frustrating waste of time. We played horrible defense and were still in it before the usual falling apart at the end deal. I had to take a coupe of hours to relax and find my inner strength to put this poll together. Here are my observations from this **** show.

Poll on its way.

There were basically two meltdowns tonight. One started in-game, basically from halftime, until Iowa St got back in the game. Then everyone thought "oh that was stressful and discouraging, but we're gunna escape here with a win, and that's all that matters," but then Iowa St sucked again. After the loss was reality, the second, much bigger meltdown began

Should have had one about Niang stopping Taylor in the lane, but then leaving him so he can make a layup. I guess it prevented Lambert from hitting another 3.

Was wondering if Prohm will take them bowling like Hoiberg or mix it up and go paintballing.

Maybe it's just me, but Monte seems to have regressed defensively frm last year. All opposing point guards are torching us.

Where's the "ISU was lucky to even get to OT after the obvious foul on Taylor's drive at end of regulation was not called"?

It's not just you. In fact, Monte has apparently decided to NOT play defense...along with a few others on the team. Maybe we're lulling future opponents to sleep?

I don't know if I'd go that far. He is often pressuring 'more' this year actually and trying to boggle up screens and/or passing lanes. We wanted to improve our 3pt. defense from last year. Remember, it was a downfall. So while at times we're pressuring more, Monte is getting beat more off the dribble (I think). Have no idea if it's the scheme or not. I just remember how he knifed through the defense vs. Iowa and made Gesell look silly last year. This year it was a pretty even matchup. Of course Gesell is having his best year and his improvement has helped their team immensely, its not just Uthoff. But other than Melo Trimble, and sometimes Yogi Ferell, what great point guards on in the big 10?

They are missing DeAndre's shoe in their ***.

Well then it needs to be replaced by somebody else's shoe up there ***. Who's though is the problem.
Niang? Obvious leader, but hard to chew *** when you're not good at that part that needs fixing, defense.
Thomas? Probably playing the hardest of anybody, but he doesn't have the clout of the others.
Prohm? I wish. Problem is they already don't listen. Some one in the game thread said he needs to blow up and throw a chair. I'd be all for that. In practice would be nice. He's gotta start holding guys accountable. If they quit, so be it.

If i'm not mistaken, we may be worse this year. Seems nearly every team we've played has had a banner game from behind the line.

One of my observations is that his defense, and our teams as a total, has been spotty. We played hard the first few minutes of Baylor and then went into a shell...and didn't come out until near the end.

I read somewhere that 2/3 of the practices are spent on defense in some way...and that is scary if the outcome is what we are seeing recently.

Five ranked teams played on the road last night. The ONLY one to win was Providence by 2 points at the buzzer to a TERRIBLE Creighton team.
