Ann assitants get a combined 1.5 million per year, which is the 3rd highest in the big 12. Where did we get this money from?

This is encouraging to me:
The package also includes $1.5 million for his nine assistant coaches, which Iowa State officials said ranks third highest for assistant coaches in the Big 12 Conference.
Not sparing a lot of expenses in this deal. Pollard is not afraid to make the financial commitments necessary to take this program to new heights. Hopefully the fans respond in turn. I wish I had more than student loan money to donate.

Coach commented that one reason he is coming is because of the level of commitment. That, for ISU, is new. Historically, ISU administrations have seen strong support for athletics as anti-academic.

Hopefully the 45-50k fans who need to be getting season tickets. 30k isn't going to do it.

Cyclone fans wanted the "next level". I'd just like to see a more consistent team winning 7-8 games on the average year, the occasional 9-10 win season and 6 wins being considered a down year.

JP did his job finding a coach, IF Cyclone fans want the coach to take us to the next level the only way is to increase Football spending. The only way to do that is season ticket sales and donations.

Get out your checkbooks.

JP knows that if the football program dosn't succeed, a lot of things don't succeed.

Jamie is taking the gamble that putting a lot in gets him even more in return. I think it won't take more than 2-3 years before we start seeing the return on investment, Chizik seems to be a rock-solid hire.

The money comes from all of us, from increased season ticket prices and increased minimum donation to the NCC for a parking pass to name a couple of sources.

if we were gonna spend a lot of money on something, im glad its FB. it brings in the most revenue, and JP said himself that if FB is down, it affects the entire Athletic Department.

I'm glad to see the money will be there to bring in some quality assistants. Chizek mentioned in the press conference just how important hiring a good staff is, and said he wasn't going to rush it. I think some poor hiring decisions in regards to previous assistants prevented the program from taking the next step up to this point, hopefully this is a problem that will finally be addressed. Props to JP for going out and getting this hire done. I really didn't think we would be able to land Chizek.

lets just start with getting some Ws

W's won't begin until next fall.

The start was a Great Hire, the important part is funding it.

Season Ticket Sales and Donations.

If you want consistent W's you are going to have to spend more than dead last in the Big XII. It would appear with the Assistant Coach deal we are willing to improve. But this is something that the fan base MUST respond to. If we want a winner we are going to have to pay for it. You can't wait for the wins and then pay.
