Making donations gives a person power in just about any industry or profession, just not at the "consumer" level that you and I are used to. Don't be nieve, money equals power in any form.
In terms of religion, people just need to shut up about it. Yes, being a family man with some guidance of faith is a requirement for JP, but there isn't a litmus test or requirement on siting bible verses so just stop with that nonsense.
The more you look at sideline demeanor, interviews, etc the more I think the Kiffin comparison for Fleck carries some weight. Of course that's based on observations and never having talked directly with either.

That seems like a hell of a violation of the separation of church and state at a state institution.
I'm not on the Fleck bandwagon. I saw Tim Brewster, the ultimate used car salesman, up here for Minnesota. Talked a great game and could recruit, but his teams were very fundamentally unsound. Whether fair or not, Fleck reminds me of him. Now, Fleck has actually been a HC (Brewster had never been more than a position coach), but I don't see his schtick going over well. Admittedly, if he wins, all will be fine. Seems like his approach would wear itself out after a few years...
I like what I've heard of Fritz. Maybe Campbell as well. Dark horse - NC State coach? Not likely, I suppose.
I find it odd that some think this is a great place to bash Christians. Don't see any need for that. I'm glad to see Jamie emphasize a family, clean-cut approach and expect that a majority of the fan base wants to like their coach and what he and the team represent. If that would somehow preclude winning, then I could see why some would be concerned. Don't see that as an issue.

The only "fit" that matters should be ability to win. Of course, a bad fit may hurt the chance they succeed here, but it still should not be an objective in itself. Plus how much of that "fit" is can JP get along with him and does he live a life JP approves of?

No chance NC States coach would even consider ISU. Face it, ISU is a bottom 3 power 5 coaching job. No one is going to leave a power 5 job to come here.
I see both sides. I like the idea of it from the point that we want someone who is a good person. I also see the concern that we don't want to push it on people.
That is a stupid requirement. Hire whoever is going to be the best football coach and win the most games, whether they are a "family man" or not. If the best candidate is single and has no children, then we damn sure better hire the best candidate.
