He's a good recruiter, he's already here, the players like him and he would keep continuity in the program.
Sounds a lot like Wayne Morgan version II.
Not even close to the same thing.

I need someone to help me out here. What is the fascination with TJ? The only thing he has done is prove he can recruit some decent talent. No one is confusing with a top 20 recruiter in the country or he would have been poached by a more historical program. If he leaves after a year, so what? Proehm is great recruiter and Underwood has proven he could get it done at both KSU and SFA.
Why do posters on this site continue to prop up TJ?
He has never been a head coach, which is a much bigger challenge.
Am I the only one who just sifts through these threads to find CW and Jeremy posts? If either of them change their avatars before this thing is over I'll be ******...
Prohm, to me, has the most potential. Is he the right guy for Iowa State? Who knows. But he played a key role in getting Sip Cannon (currently with the Houston Rockets) as the lead assistant and got a commitment from Cam Payne over Wichita St. Payne will likely be a top 20 pick in the upcoming draft. If he can bring that type of talent to Murray, Kentucky or wherever Murray St is then I like his chances at recruiting well to Ames.
His teams play with tempo and love to shoot the 3. I like his demeanor and seems like a players coach from what I see on YouTube. Everyone has a preference and that is what can generate good discussion. To each his own.
Big deal!. Where do you think Tim Floyd and Larry Eustachy came from. Look around dude! Do you think that only successful coaches had previous power 5 experience? Prohm is arguably the best up and coming coach in America. I guarantee you that he would be on the short list of any top program in America if they were searching for coaches. I'd rather him come here than have him go to a place like Oklahoma State where he could hurt us every year.Don't get the love for Prohm. Never has coached at the P5 level. I'm not for Underwood but at least he has. Prohm is a huge risk - we have no way of knowing if his system can translate to the P5 level, can he recruit P5 talent against other P5 teams, can he manage boosters and outside commitments?
If Prohm, I would rather have TJ. Both are unknowns bug at least he is familiar with ISU, the players, and the system.
We should all be very thankful that Leath is involved. It's pretty clear that Leath saw that outside of being given Fred in his lap...Every other hire by JP has been nothing short of a disaster.

Along with our own version of Fran McCaffery.
I wonder if Scott Brooks was contacted? Don't know if anyone brought up his name yet.
For those in the "but he can recruit" camp, I'm pretty sure Prohm has recruited as many NBA draft picks as TJ, and has experience as a head coach of a top 25 team. Why is TJ more qualified again?
I have to admit, I'm warming to the idea of Prohm. Only if we can keep TJ on board though.
IMO I'd like to think we could pull a coach from another P5 school that's had some success. We have lots of positives to our program. Current top 10 roster, ridiculously supportive fan base, Hilton magic makes Hilton a top 10 arena for atmosphere, basketball school, etc. We're a better job than the majority of P5 positions out there right now. I mean just in the Big 12, the only better jobs are Texas and Kansas, and I think you could argue we have some selling points that Texas couldn't touch, but they have the bank account. Which is what this will all be about. We're a great place for a lot of coaches, but are we willing to put down the cash, that's the question, and unfortunately, it doesn't seem like we are.
