Pre-Memorial Day Hoiberg NBA Update

Yes... a last second buzzer beater to put a game into OT or for the win I can understand. Hitting a jumper with 5 minutes to go in the game and acting like you just did something extraordinary is a bit much.

For the guy that mentioned Kane... I wasn't always a fan of this theatrics. He complained to the refs a bit too much, he celebrated a bit too much, etc... Don't get me wrong the guy was a great player but that is the junk you see in the NBA which drives people crazy. I should feel sorry for Lebron because he didn't get a call? A guy that makes millions of dollars playing a game... and he wants us to feel sorry for him... to feel his pain... really? No thanks.

Where's the pic of Naz doing this in Iowa ******, right in front of Fran? Pretty sure that wasn't a game winning shot.

Your digging a hole...

I feel sorry for his time wasted watching the NBA.

Enjoy watching teams like UNI hold the ball for 35 seconds and play lock down defense with zero offense.

I'll watch Steph Curry and James Harden duel like last night.

Your loss.

I don't watch UNI or Wisconsin, I watch Big 12 basketball and it is glorious.

I don't think he said it NEVER happens in NCAA.

Would you agree that it happens MORE in the NBA?

No. Granted, I don't watch as much NBA as ncaa, but just watch Iowa St alone, you'll see similar stuff. I have got zero problem with it either though, especially professionally. Those guys are paid entertainers.

There is no way you just compared the fan appeal of Hoiberg to Rhoads did you? Hoiberg has always been the golden boy of ISU since he was the ball boy and played high school sports in Ames. Except for Cecil, no one heard of the Rhoads name until Paul joined McCarney's staff.

You are telling me fans would still love Hoiberg and want to keep him as our coach forever even if we sucked? Not a chance. Fans aren't loyal to coaches who don't win.

I'd rather Fred just go at this point. Our recruiting is going to be nonexistent until he leaves. I don't see the reason to pay him more if he would leave next year regardless.

This is the mindset I've taken on as well, especially with the following quote from Jeremy:

12. Naturally, JP has a short list to move forward with if Fred leaves and it’s said that there may be a few surprises on that list not currently being discussed, for better or worse.

I'm curious as to who might be on that short list. I'm just ready for this drama to end.

I also would have accepted the one with Fran in the background.

The "surprises...for better" has me intrigued. The "surprises...for worse" has me extremely nervous (like in a McDermotty way).

Dang! Jeremy's BACK! I mean, i know he's been more active the last year....but he's making the Fred saga HIS (on the message boards).

Good work my man!!

Thanks, Jeremy, for the update. I'd rather hear things good/bad from you rather than random poster's talking about what their friend's sister's, best friend's, boyfriend's uncle who knows someone close to the program have to say. Maybe they know something but most likely they don't, and you can't put any weight to it unless it is from someone you KNOW has sources. Someone like Jeremy, Chris Williams, etc.

But at any rate, it's all just rumors until something is officially announced. Rumors are why we have message boards.

Completly agree. If it wasn't for CFH Pollard would not be held in as high regard as he is today....see Gene Chiz and McD hires..

Do the right thing. PAY THE MAYOR!

Those hires look real bad in hind sight. They were unbelievable at the time. (One of) the best prospect in the assistant football ranks. And the same in Div II basketball coming to little old ISU.

Very happy to hear about #5. We should at least pay him or offer him what he's worth, and then if he still leaves at least we know that we tried. Honestly, I think he's worth $4-$5 mill/year to ISU.

That being said, #10 is troublesome. If this is just a 1 year deal, I would not back up the money truck. If he's willing to seriously commit long term, then pay him.

4-5 million? wowsa... Thats pretty high for someone that hasn't won a league title or made an Elite 8. Izzo doesn't make that. Id put his value around 3.2-3.5 million as of today.
