Good to know that the Hoiberg reason/excuse/justification is finally gaining the steam he wanted.
ISU is really screwed here. You want whoever can maximize results for next year's roster. I am sure ISU has never in its existence had these kind of preseason expectations.
1. Although, the lag is already hampering ISU's ability to build the kind of depth they need in the front court for next year, in what I would call their "All In" year whether Hoiberg is here or not.
2. If Hoiberg to Chicago or Minnesota falls through or gets put on hold for a year, next year's recruiting is really going to suck and the roster gets depleted. The only way recruiting is not hampered going forward is if he makes a long term commitment to ISU and that he is not going anywhere.
3. If Hoiberg does go, is the best coach for the future necessarily the best coach for 2015-2016?
Its not an easy job/decision for Pollard, and the longer it goes it really makes things worse for ISU no matter what I'm afraid. The best outcome is he thinks about it and says I am committed to ISU for the future but even that may have cost them the depth in the frontcourt they need next year to get to a Final Four or even more.

I've always hated the Bulls (call it the Iowa State fan in me---I hate the teams that are supposed to be good) and I can say that it won't be hard to still hate them while Hoiberg is their coach.
Has there been a bonafide offer extended by ISU to Fred with increased pay and a NBA buyout to match the CBB buyout?
