OK, I will start with a disclaimer that Jeremy's sources are better than mine. If he refutes the below I would trust him.

That said...

The people who are getting at least some consideration which in multiple cases includes interview are:

Harbaugh
Norvell
Kragthorpe
Price
Brewster
Kelly
Rhoades
Patterson

Harbaugh has been a favorite throughout the process and as we know interviewed Friday. For reasons unknown to me or anyone I talked to, while it is very possible he will ultimately be the guy, there are a couple of others that are strong possibilities.

Don't expect the next coach to have a moving truck coming from Nebraska or Pittsburg. If it is not Harbaugh expect it to be one of the following....Price, Kragthorpe, Kelly. The current slide has hurt Kragthorpe, but he is the type of person that JP likes.

Again, I am not predicting or suggesting I have JP's thoughts. I am just relating what a person usually reliable told me yesterday. Take it for what it is worth.

If Patterson is even remotely interested - I'd be disappointed if we didn't interview him.

However, I've heard/read nothing to suggest he is interested at this point.

The more Kragthorpe loses, the better I like our chances with him.

Fans were gushing over him, now they are questioning him, and a friend of mine down there thinks he's overpaid, etc.

I would GLADLY take Kragthorpe off their hands.

I still Like the Price connection, we don't have to worry about Density making the trip with him. That Baggage was left in Alabama, he has repented. They love this guy in El Paso, respectablity has returned to the miners program.

At this point, i would have a hard time being too disappointed with Harbaugh, Kragthorpe, Kelly, or Price. Any of the 4 would be a solid, positive hire in my opinion. I was iffy on Kelly before, but I think he would bring the kind of offensive scheme (spread) that we need at ISU.

Problem with Kragthorpe is how do you sell him to the base after the losses? Not happy with losing games you should win with Mac well welcome to losing to Rice and SMU... Not saying he isn't a great coach, but while he may be more "available", he is also a much tougher sell now to a base that is being asked for $$ and tickets.

Agreed. I hope we at least get an interview with him, if only to see how he stands up against the others. Can't hurt, right?

I don't think that JP would look too poorly on Kragthorpe; he fits JP's characteristics fairly well.

I'm surprised I've missed anyone, but who is Price?

My gut feeling has been that Patterson and Kragthorpe are the two coaches that have the best profiles relative to what I beleive JP is targeting. The big question for me is whether either is interested in ISU.

Kragthorpe is willing to leave, Patterson is a real question mark. He played and coach at TCU. Is he a TCU lifer? If not would he leave Texas?

M&M actually had a good take (for once) about Price. It's a hire that JP would have to defend if he did it and they don't see JP taking that big of a risk in this situation. He likes the big names but the big names that are young, energetic, and have clean reps and Price doesn't fit any of those categories. In fact apparently Price's alcohol problems were a problem (a lot like Larry's where everyone knew but no one did anything about it) before they became public in a scandal.

From a PR perspective it is interesting....

Price as Trav23 said JP would have to answer the questions about his personal life, but not his football credentials.

Kragthorpe would have been the golden child hire three weeks ago, but with the losses how do you sell the base that he is a step up.

Harbaugh will energize, but will also have doubters b/c he has the smallest coaching resume

Patterson - Probably least questions about the hire and all positive feedback. Doesn't make him the best, but would be received well in most circles

I have been a little out of the loop lately so forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question, but can someone fill me in on Patterson???? I recognize the other names except him and Price, but Price was explained earlier. Thanks

Gary Patterson is the head coach at TCU. The same TCU team that beat Iowa State in the Houston Bowl last year. I would be very excited if JP could pull this one in!

why is everyone so giddy about Patterson all of a sudden? What are the main positives of him as a hire?
