Source: K.J. Bluford is transferring

He had a tweet the other night after Boise St game something about how people back home know what he can do. He has since deleted it. Fred may now need a McBeth or Drew Mitchell to walk on to practice.

Actually, is that correct? Or does KJ's scholarship last the whole year? I thought I heard Bubu's scholarship was already in use for the year, so this seems like a similar situation. Seems kind of dumb that McKay would still have to pay his own way if we have 2 scholarships next semester that aren't actually being used.
The scholarship is probably gone for the year. KJ will probably exit now anyway and transfer mid stream.

He made the best move he could for his future by choosing this time to leave. I don't fault him at all for doing so. In fact, I didn't realize he got into 7 of our 11 games, I guess. Hoping for the best for him. Best wishes!

We need to go after a 5th year senior guard like Kane and Korie with this open scholarship. We will have no senior guards on the team next year. I'm not sure Monte (who is playing great, don't get me wrong) and Custer (a freshman) can lead us through an entire season.

If they don't get that, I'd be smart to go after JC again. We'll need forwards.

If that door is closed, go after some transfer/JuCo shooters.

That would be such a cool opportunity to be able to just walk on to this team for half a year

All 7 were blowouts minus BYU where we ran out of players

Step 1: Get Rashad Vaughn
Step 2: Get Josh Cunningham or a 5th year senior PG transfer
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit

We definitely have two pen scholarships. I don't know why I thought McKay would get one. That one poster saying now McKay not having to pay his way anymore got in my head before I stopped and looked at the scholarship chart.

I was referring to this Spring semester when he will be on the team but we won't have any open scholarships. We'll actually only have 11 scholarship players on the team at that point, but I don't think McKay can use either of the two scholarships vacated by Bubu and KJ.

He's got one for next year, no matter what.

Hate to see guys leave, but he was not going to see a lot of meaningful minutes at ISU this year or next. I thing Fred brought him in as a Tyrus type player because based on the history of the players on the team, ISU was going to need a designated shooter. Hogue and Naz have both been way better shooters this year than everyone, even Fred, expected.

Making room for Bubu? <jimlad>

Best of luck to KJ, from this video, you can see he expected to get minutes where ever he went. I think with Naz shooting like he is, his potential minutes dried up.

Unless there's a stud transfer PG out there I doubt Fred will look for one for next season. Monte was really close to holding down the PG spot this year until Kane picked the good guys. Man man and Clayton are the future of the program at the PG spot and I think next year those two get the reigns

My best guess would be we take an immediate transfer SG if RV goes elsewhere (assuming there's a good one available).

If RV chooses us, then we'll look for Cunningham, or a transfer that might sit for a year.

40% of college basketball players transfer. Im all for keeping the transfer trend going.
Stat heavily inflated by the JUCO transfers. Not saying these don't count, but the point for many of those guys going the JUCO route is to improve grades and hoop skills to transfer to a bigger program.
