Still think Wesley is going pro after this year????

Just wanted to revisit this question from a month or so ago. I know he has been hurt, I know he battled the flu, but I seriously can't see how he would take a game over.

He is not even the team leader on the court this year. I hope he steps up cause we really need a go to guy.

Don't worry, I think Wes will come around. One of the reasons he didn't play very much was because of his foul trouble, which was because of his bad defense. If he improves his defense, everything improves.

He was definately a leader in the beginning of the season but the last couple weeks has been ugly. Very ugly. And not just from him.

He is in a slump. I fully expect him to be charged and ready after a summer off.

Yes... He is hurt, he had the flu.. And like we become accustomed to saying, "There is always next year, or he will be ready next year"

So basically, this came down to one thing. Wes should of red shirted. Save the year, be back next year.

He needs to prove he can defend. He needs to prove he can score against Big 12 competition and not preseason teams.

Foul trouble or not. Wes hasn't shown up for awhile.

He never gets the ball for one thing! TT gave the ball to their best player everytime and he would drive in and get fouled...I know Wes didn't play much but to me it just seems he doesn't have the best opportunities to score...

we gave it to our best offensive threat... Sean Haluska

Poor Jon Miller, he can't win around here. He gives WJ a huge compliment and people say he's stirring the pot. God forbid he say something romotely negative about ISU and he's a smug Hawkeye lover with a terrible radio show!! Wes has a very good chance of playing at the next level. He's a sophomore on a team that lacks a supporting cast. Grab some popcorn and a beverage because watching him the next couple years will be a treat.

Don't you mean Sed Johnson?

Last 4 games.. 9 for 38 shooting for Wes.

Damn. Don't make me dig out the stats for the five CONFERENCE games before Wes reinjured his ankle. Do you really have that short of a memory? He was just getting going.

He's in a slump, playing hurt/sick.

Regardless, he's not playing well at all right now. Especially on the defensive end of the floor (which isn't a huge difference from before, but has gotten worse).

Yes... My short term memory problem. Wes had 4 games in which he scored 20 plus points. Two of those games were complete BLOW OUTS to Kansas and Kansas State. The Kansas game he actually shot terrible from the field. The announcers even mentioned that several times.

He might of been just getting going, but that was then. Today, he can't defend, and is missing a boat load of shots.

Injury or not... He's more of a liability then asset out there. I'm more impressed with Pete, Sean, Cam Lee out there then when Wes is out there. More defense and some people that can pop a shot right now.

This is probably because he is hurt. But if he is that badly hurt then shut it down for the year. Why risk getting hurt more??? His defense was terrible today and the guy he was guarding had way too many back door cuts with a layup finish.

Hawkeye lover, huh? What year did he graduate from U of I???

I'm pretty sure Wesley Johnson is not a weakness on our team...

The way he's playing right now, he is. Period. His defense was nothing short of horrid today. It's a result of his condition making his averageish defense much, much worse.

I agree about sitting him completely or significantly limiting his minutes. No need to make it worse, continue the pain for him, etc.
