Question for Jon Miller

Why redshirt him? He wouldnt be here for his 5th year anyway.

Well, we better learn to play D or else he is seriously lowering his NBA stock. I still say shut it down and let it heal. Get him in the weight room. Then have him work on playing D.

Just because you can score doesn't mean your NBA material. Ask Stinson if you need proof. Plus, he still hasn't shown that ability to take over a game on his own yet. Hit those clutch shots down the stretch. Until he does this, he's really just another player.

I wasn't able to watch or listen to the game. A couple of questions about WJ. Was he playing the guard or forward spot? What was the defensive liability? Was he getting beat to the basket by a shorter, quicker guard? Just curious.

We should not have red shirted him this year. If he plays to his potential these next two years, he wouldn't even stay around for his 5th year. He is playing pretty crappy right now but ever good player goes through their slumps. Thats the problem this year, he is only a good player. He needs to elevate his game next year to be a GREAT player.

In defense of Jon Miller, he NEVER said that he was going pro after one year. He said that Wes was the "real deal", and he wouldn't be surprised if he left early. I believe his "one year" comment was also heavily caveated.

Oh, crap. Did I just defend Jon Miller? Someone just shoot me.....

Hawkeye lover, huh? What year did he graduate from U of I???

The question should be, "What direct relative is he married to?" or "What address is his trailer park?" Or perhaps even, what's the VIN number on his 1981 Hawkeye Special conversion van?"

Graduate from U of I???? Geez. And I thought you were better than that, Monty.

BTW - Give Abu and IP my love....

If u could pick wes Johnson or Curtis stinson who would u pick

Stinson. He is just a very tough player who elevated his game against the best competition. Wes is still a good talent and will get through this. But it was just plain stupid when people were saying Wesley is the next Scotty Pippen about a month ago.

I don't understand the need to keep kicking a kid when he is down. We already do that with Craig and it has greatly effected his confidence from what I have heard. We have a kid who is playing hurt and/or sick and giving whatever he has in the tank and we are upset with this?!?! I understand that he is struggling, but piling on the kid isn't going to help. I know some of these guys read message boards and to see all of the negative stuff that gets talked about has to be disheartening. Wes has played hurt pretty much the entire year, shouldn't we be proud of him for toughing it out and trying to help his team win? Wes is also our only legitimate scoring option. Rahshon has worked on his game and improved, but you know that whenever Wes touches the ball, he can score at any time. That causes alot of attention for him. I am not saying people aren't supporting Iowa State, but we have a kid who is trying to gut through an injury because PLAYING for Iowa State is important to him. I'm glad Wes straps it on every day and tries to give whatever he has in the tank that day.

Yes because I was totally bashing the kid to death. I simply started this thread asking if Jon Miller thought he would still go pro this year.

If you find anywhere in this thread that I bashed him I'm sorry. If someone can't take a little criticizism then he probably shouldn't listen to sports radio, read message boards, or later in life get a job and get married. People are way too sensitive these days.

If we can't have a conversation about this like adults maybe we should go back and have more endless threads about Firing or discussing Coach McD, or recruiting, or some other pointless thing we have been through a billion times.

I love the players we have on this team. I brought up some simple facts and in no way wished we didn't have the people we have. I get sick and tired of you and the ultra sensitive crowd. We are having a conversation, not wishing harm on someone.

Sorry about the rant, but I knew I was going to blow up at the first person that said I'm not supporting the team for creating this thread.

The majority of team played really good ball yesterday except for Wesley and Craig. Players in Priority Order doing well lately: JH, SH, RC, BP, AT, DG, CL, CJ, CB, WJ.

Our Last Five Minute game remains atrocious. We can play well and then we have to hold our breath as we have no go to guys at end of the game.

I never said you specifically, it was just a generalization. I also understand that you are frustrated because you ARE supporting Iowa State. I only stressed the playing part because you can tell that Iowa State is Wes's home and playing for the University is important to him.

I do take offense to being thrown into the ultra sensitive crowd. I do not post often, but post when I feel it is relevant. You were giving your reason's for your disappointment, I was giving my reasons for appreciation. That was all. Nothing was meant to be an attack back at you or anyone else. I have played when I was probably too hurt to play and had people outside of the team and the situation criticize me for something they didn't know about, so I was trying to give a different view on it.

I think our disappointments are because we are so loyal and are willing to support through thick or thin. I did not mean to come off attacking or create the illusion that you were bashing Wes or anyone else.

Probably because we know he can do more than 12 points on 5 for 13 shooting and 4 boards. He can shoot very well and has a plethora of shots, but he continues to force many shots. We know he will be much better. We know that Wesley took only 4 shots because he is not feeling right. It is just that the other players are peaking and we still need more help from CB, WJ, and DG if we are to get out of 11th place. If we lose at Colorado we will only be a game out of last place. Hats off for SH being the most improved player followed by BP and DG. I do not know how TT beat us but we could not close the 4-6 point gap in the last few minutes. We have played very well against TT and Texas. We should have a shot at Hilton Magic for KSU and maybe KU. The team concept on the road yeaterday looked like a 50% mprovement over the KU and KSU road games. If you do well on the road, then you are a pretty good team.

Amen brother! These players are giving it all and some people just want to tear them down. They have not given up on Iowa State. Like some posters on this site.
