Its true that Tech hasn't faced anyone, but their defensive numbers are ridiculous. I'd say there's fair reason to believe that they are significantly better defensively.

Of course, as everyone else is saying, their first real test will be against us in two weeks. It may be our first real test as well. Iowa's offense still hasn't looked good, and Tulsa hasn't played anyone with a pulse since they played us.

Well, Tech can't come out of the gates slow like we have the last couple of years offensively. If we come out, and play our game, I think we can move to 4-0, and I'm sure you ISU fans are saying the same thing.

Tech is 3 deep at RB (all 3 will play quite a bit), and legitmately 8-9 deep at WR, and we have a TE (Jace Amaro) who can flex out, and cause all kinds of problems for corners, or safeties. Amaro, is 6'5 about 260 (was a #52 nationally ranked player). He's still learning, but we are getting him more involved in the offense each week.

Tech just so many different kinds of weapons that we didn't have last season. It's really going to be hard for teams to match up, and as long as Coach Brown calls a good game, and Doege can go through his progressions, we will continue to score points. I would thik thins game more closely resembles the 2010 game, then the 2011 game.

QB - edge TTU, don't even think I have to explain why. I would take Doege in a heartbeat
WR - edge ISU, we have more depth than you do, and none of our receivers are really game changers
RB - edge ISU, we are now 4 deep at RB, we've got power, speed, and explosiveness

Tech has played 3 cupcakes and ISU has played 1. I have no idea why you think we can't run the ball/have to pass it. But hey, hopefully the TTU coaching staff thinks the same way and only gears for the pass. Then we'll blow you up on the run. Our RB future is sky high, proven by Nealy last night. He had 77 yards on 7 carries in the 3rd Qtr with the 2nd string o-line. Im gonna guess he has a big game against Tech if he gets the carries.

Well, really, it's HOPEFUL thinking. And, not what I REALLY think. I think with better coaches (and I do think we upgraded in this area over last year), you CAN see a significant upgrade in stats. It's probably why a talented team doesn't do very well, and with a new coaching staff, that same team can be a Top 5, 10, or 15 type of team instantly. Just look at what happened with KSU after Snyder took over from Prince. Or look at OU after Stoops took over. Or, look at OSU under their first year with HOLGERSON. It can happen, and it wouldn't be the first time.

I think Tech does have talented players on defense, and maybe better coaching, or better technique is what they needed?

You MIGHT have the edge in RB's (and that could be debatable), but NO WAY, NO HOW you have better (or deeper) WR corps than Tech does.

Thanks for the post.

Tech seems to have a good team this year. It should be a fun game. I like our defense and their ability to stop the pass. We have good depth in the secondary and very veteran linebackers.

I anticipate a game similar to 2010, maybe a little less points.

For some context about some of the less welcome posts, you should look up the visits we get from Hawkeye and Baylor fans. We've been trolled by some real losers.

You're backing your team. That's supposed to happen. I think we're all a little apprehensive about this one, since both teams have some real ability and some real things to prove.

Rhodes has done a TREMENDOUS job with your program, and I expect ISU will just continue to be a tough game for ANYBODY. He's got your guys believing they can win any game, and that's leads the fanbase to believe the same thing. Rhodes is really a great coach, and it's nice to know that he will be at your school for a long, long time, and could possibly do what Snyder has done with KSU.

I also really like Jake Knott. He seems to always be around the ball, and will definitely be a guy our coaches will have to gameplan for.

Somehow, we need to find a way to get the turnover margin back in the right direction. I think the maddening thing about the turnovers is most of them have been foolish, not something where the opponent forced a mistake. Just stupid. Even if the offense isn't running roughshod through the opponent, if we're scoring some points & moving it some & limiting the 3 & outs I think our defense & punting game will be good enough to give us a chance in every game.

Umm...for a friend...could you please direct me to the most popular red raider fan forum?

The biggest one would be Raiderpower...although they aren't too friendly to some people over there. Let's just say that's a place that definitely has a reutation, and it's not a positive one. You must definitely have thick skin.

That's where the Leachers like to hang out, and still likes to see Tuberville fail.

Gillipsie...Glasgow...

Actually, we like to call him GLASCOW...and I'm still not real sure what the heck is up with that Gillespie situation. Is he REALLY that bad, and how did all of this not come out when they investigated his background...or is it more of the players are a bunch of panzies, and don't like old school coaches.

Either way, I'd expect him not to be around too much longer. As soon as his FMLA leaves is up, I think Tech will fire him, although it could be a situation where he "resigns" due to "health issues".

Gillespie is a good coach. I think Tech is just starting to build a reputation of running good coaches out of town.

He's a heck of a coach, but if he's done what he's being accused of, then he should probably go. And, Leach DEFINITELY needed to go.

Tech didn't play anyone with a pulse in the nonconference (they seem to always have a ridiculously easy nonconference schedule), so I think its hard to say whether or not they are much improved yet. Also not sure why you would think we won't be able to run the ball against you guys, I hope your not drawing that conclusion from how Tech has played against the cupcakes they've faced so far.

I wondered how long it would take for "that guy" to show up. Longer than I expected, actually.

I am surprised to hear this. I thought almost all of the Tech fans sided with Leach on this one.

I just don't think anybody should be able to treat the administration like he did, and be able to survive. I couldn't go into my job, and tell my boss to "F__ Off", and be able to come back to work. Sometimes we treat these coaches more than what they should be. We treat them as icons. If they are good people, treat the kids great, kids graduate, and become good citizens, BUT they don't win...then they get fired. If the coach is a *******, and treats people like slaves, and like he owns the school, but wins, then he keeps his job, and gets raises, and is treated like a God at said school.

Leach didn't recruit, and in fact cancelled recruiting trips to go do what HE wanted to do. Leach didn't fundraise for the school to help SUPPLEMENT his own income, and to bring about better changes. We are just now trying to get a nice videoboard for the stadium, and an indoor practice facility. He never tried to take advantage of the success people thought he was having, although 3-4 of his wins every season were against these same creampuffs that we are still playing. Leach didn't try to build a defense, and didn't even know some of the defensive players names. Leach was CONSTANTLY looked for another job, and it cost us in recruiting. Leach's lack of recruiting really cost us last year on defense. We had 3 walk-ons playing in the secondary, and also had a converted WR STARTING at CB for us. It's starting to cost us on the OL this year, too. If we have an injury, or two on the OL, we are screwed...just like at DB last season. Who knows, we might have to have punter playing OT (jk, of course).

Tuberville is actually trying to build a PROGRAM, and that only comes through recruiting. He's also trying to run the ball more, which I appreciate. He's not going to go for it on our 25 yard line like Leach. I'll take Tuberville, and his recruiting abilities over Leach's offense any day. Also, his fundraising. Tuberville is trying to recruit speed, something Leach didn't care about.

Leach will get a nice QB, or WR every once in a while at WSU, but he won't have the same success he had at Tech. He won't recruit, and just doesn't have the recruiting base he had in Texas.

Leach didn't care about Tech, and doesn't care about WSU. He only cares about his offense, and himself.

Fair enough. Interesting to hear this from the fans prospective. Sounded like there was a lot more going on than what people outside of Texas Tech knew about.
