Only class I was happy to go to, and I love my major. Everyone I talked to really enjoyed him.
The great thing about college is that if you need help with homework, you can walk down the hall and get help from your friends. Only sometimes their fly is open and you're like "aww man, I don't need to see that."
There are people dressed as elves over here to make sure you don't jump around.
Had Bobby Martens last semester and I have Frank Montabon this semester. Both are awesome!Bobby Martens...Eric Northway...Frank Montabon. From an LSCM 09 perspective
He is indeed a very entertaining teacher but I didn't find his class useful or relevant to what MIS really is.Surprised we almost got through two pages without a Fred Choobineh reference......I'm not sure he was my favorite, but he was entertaining and somewhat of a cult figure.

Don't you guys have to take some 229 class now or something? I remember when I heard they took away Com S 104. That made me a little sad..
For anyone who took that class and 227 awhile ago.Two words for you - Owen Reynolds. If you didn't have him, let me just tell you. Hilarious. In hindsight, he had some mental problems perhaps and/or was on medication but a fairly smart guy.
I remember though in class, he would literally gallop across the lecture hall to write stuff on the blackboard, and then pant "heh heh heh" and continue. He had some golden quotes, most of which I don't remember, but the one I do was he was telling us about Gopher. He basically said they all used it to look at "naked pictures of Jodie Foster." Other times it was him joking about goat sex.
One time we had pizza with him and all of a sudden he's like "SO, who else in here smokes marijuana?" *awkward silence* "...I'm just wondering, I'm not trying to buy any." *Laughter* *awkward silence*
One of my fondest memories of that class was when he was telling us about "da newegg". He went to newegg.com and was showing us how to use it. He showed us a bag and showed us how to purchase it. Then when it was delivered, he brought it to the next class. I think he gave it away to a student. In no particular order: Jeff Prater (various Music courses), Chuck Shrader (Strategic management), Virginia Blackburn (Business capstone course), and Fred Choobineh (MIS 330). The first three because they genuinely loved what they were doing, and imparted that to us students, and Fred because he's just the coolest SoB in the whole university. "Zee Google iz HOT!"

Yeah they werent straight forward. Luckily when I took it he still had the lottery. I got the second highest lottery level which raised me like 2 letter grades. I guess he stopped doing it but students complained because they did terrible in the class then.Yeah.. and as i recall his tests had a lot of either trick or obscure questions.
Haha yes he did. I remember him reviewing a test one day and going over the answers. One particular true/false question he says, "this a question i a made a up....still a some a students say "true". how can this a question be true when this thing a doesn't exist?"Yeah.. and as i recall his tests had a lot of either trick or obscure questions.
All three are awesome professors...in actuality, I don't think i've had one I truly disliked at Iowa State.
Not true. I had a handful who weren't fit to scrub crap off the inside of a dorm hall toilet. I won't name names, though I'd like to. I wrote a 5-page condemnation of one of my management professors one semester before the course evaluation. I'm sure the business college staff had fun using it to light their campfire or something.![]()
