Tom Herman is going to be successful wherever he ends up...This is a tremendous loss because this guy has done amazing things with the players that he has here. Imagine what he will be able to do with talented players and a head coach that is similar to Rhoads in Urban Meyer

I am not bothered by this development at all. I hope that it happened because CPR had other plans in the works for OC and wasn't going to renew Herman's contract.

Things were a little better for the Clones offense this year, but overall I have not been impressed with the job Herman has done while at ISU.

4th string quarterback, 3rd string running back, and our top two receivers hadn't played the position before coming to Iowa State??? People don't realize that the stars never aligned for Herman at ISU. You guys throw out statistics like they mean EVERYTHING and if statistics were everything, then you would realize that our defense sucks way more than the offense. Mark my words, he will not only be an OC at a big-time shool, he will be a head coach at a big time school

Um, you do understand that he was the only coach on this staff to not have his contract renewed right? There was a reason for that.

Steele was 4th string? White was 3rd string? Playing kids at positions different than what they played in high school is unique Herman at ISU?

It is pretty incriminating if Herman needs the stars to align to not be futile.

Going into spring ball, Barnett was 4th string, White was 3rd string and Gary/Reynolds were in there 2nd and 3rd year of playing wide receiver. There was no pass catching threat at tight end and our two "best" offensive lineman led the league in penalties. I'm shocked at how people don't think Herman was or could be successful.

Marvin McNutt hadn't played receiver prior to his time at Iowa. Think KOK managed him okay.

Plus our depth is better than it ever has been. If it was a couple of years ago, getting something out of 3rd string RB would have been saying something. White was not the typical ISU 3rd stringer. That is a good thing.

A better question is should JB been 4th string?
If White was 3rd team, than Woody, who is still on the team, was 2nd team. Why did Herman not have White as 2nd RB? Either way Herman had a better roster of RBs than almost any recent ISU OC.

Those OL also were just voted to 1st and 2nd team All-Big 12. Again, Herman had it better than most ISU OC's.

Do you know how many teams rely on players in their 2nd or 3rd year of playing a "new" position?
