Ironically, I just bought my first pair of Oakley sunglasses today. I bought a pair of the new Oakley Batwolf's. Only problem so far is I have a large head. These are the wrap around type so they move up and down with facial expressions. Otherwise I like them so far. I didn't get polarized. I wasn't sure whether that was worth the extra money.

What are you going to use them for? Just driving and walking about? Or running, biking, skiing, active use?

If you want something active, I would recommend Native. Extremely lightweight, durable, and carry a warranty from the manufacturer.

I don't go anywhere without my Natives.

I agree. I've owned both Oakley and Native. My current pair are Native's and are very light and durable. Sportsman's Warehouse in Ankeny carries a good selection. I highly recommend polarized lenses especially if you are into fishing. You'll be able to see into the water much better.

Another vote for Natives. You can also find them at Fitness Sports, 73rd and University. Not necessarily any cheaper than Oakley's, but I've found them to be lighter and just as durable.

If you just want a pair for driving, go with Ray Ban.

I used to love Oakleys but lately not so much. I currently have a pair of the metal ones and they were nearly $150. The optics are great but the frames seem to bend and i wouldn't be surprised if the lens pop out soon.

On the other hand I have some cheap Smith ones that have lasted forever but those are plastic so it's probably not fare to compare the two.

I agree with that. I bought a pair of $175 polarized ones in the spring, they broke recently. I guess I need to call oakley and get a set of replacement lenses.

I've got a couple pairs of Oakley and a pair of Ray Ban and love them all! One pair of Oakley glasses and the Ray Ban glasses are polarized and have prescription lenses. Not only do you get what you pay for, but when you spend more on something you tend to pay more attention to them and are less likely to loose them or break them. It's a fact.

Never had Oakleys but I have a couple pairs of polarized Maui Jims. Nice glasses and have no glare.

This may sound odd but...if you can look for the Asian fit Oakley's. They are made for a wider face. I am not Asian and I didn't think to try them at first but now that I found them, they work great for my big melon.

Once you buy a good pair of sunglasses you wont buy gas station sun glasses ever again. Prob on my 4th pair of Oakleys and dont have any complaits with any of them. Last fall I got a pair of Ray Bans and IMO they have a better lens in them.

I understand the value of having quality sunglasses but what is in those sunglasses that justifies the $ 130 price tag? Honestly it probably cost Oakley $ 15 in materials to make a pair.

I think they are worth it, I'm very happy with my Oakley's. I also bought $300 Gucci shades, liked my Oakley's better so I sold my Gucci shades.

I just regret getting the white Oakley's that everyone else has...

I have some oakleys that I bought my junior year of high school about 12 years ago and they still look brand new.

I'm looking for some No Fear clothing, anyone know if it's worth it?

How about you give a suggestion then fashion police?

Oakleys are the Mountain Dew of eyewear.

These on the other hand should class this joint up a little...

I'm thinking about buying a pair, I generally go through a pair of sunglasses every year, piece of junk type. Are they worth it or are they overpriced and not as durable as I'm hoping they are?
I am a Maui Jim fan myself. they are extremely durable and if there is an issue, I send them in and they fix it for a small fee.

One thing I noticed when I started buying more expensive sunglasses...I take better care of them so they last longer. If you buy an el cheappo pair, you don't really care if they break. When you drop $100+ you tend to treat them better. That has as much pf an effect as the durability of the galsses as well.
