tough deal. ends up happening to some people with Diabetes. he had already had a few toes removed.
SAd to hear. coaching is a tough profession to stay healthy. Travel and recruiting trips leads to hotel and eating on the run. Hardly a healthy life style.

They're saying he's most likely going to miss the rest of the season. The whole situation sucks for both parties. Norm for having to go through everything, and Iowa now loses undoubtedly one of the best defensive minds in the game today.

Exactly. Diabetes is no joke. I hope NP will be able to continue coaching, I think he's a great DC.

My step dad lost his leg to diabetes and about 5 years later we lost him to it. That disease is no joke, hopefully coach Parker can get it managed.

so I guess they'll have to amend the t-shirts to say "Norm only needs one foot to kick your ***"

Real life hits home. I don't wish this on anyone. Best of luck to him.

I haven't seen this confirmed by anyone on any Hawkeye sight...just someone posted that they heard it had happened.

May or may not be true.

Not to be redundant to others on this board, but.....My thoughts & prayers go out to Coach Parker, his family & the Hawk football family.

1460 reported it a bit ago via Terril who talked to Ferentz.

Hope for a quick recovery, wish the Parker and Hawkeye families the best.

i hope he doesn't continue coaching
  1. His health is more important and he is at a stage in his life where he can walk away
  2. He is a great coach an dI would prefere him not on the sidelines. Not due to health reasons. I just wish he would retire and enjoy life

I just had a player on my team have his leg amputated below the knee. Very surreal thing to go through. He went through this during homecoming week. One of our homecoming days ways "superhero" day. We had all the freshman players and us coaches wore the kids number with his name on our shirts as our superhero. Not something a kid should go through. Or in this situation, anyone should go through. Thoughts go out to Parker.
