I think both teams have some work to do for the game to garner "national" attention. Would love to see another Florida St. type game, definitely put ISU and seneca on the map. Iowa won't do that for us.. ;)

If it means nothing then why do you see hawks wearing beat state shirts all of the time?

Watching KCCI at 6:00. They were interviewing some hawk player (don't recall who). He has a better grasp on it than most fans. Said himself that "some like to make it out to be that it means more to them than us." Went on to disagree with that sentiment and that Iowa football has plenty of quotes and bulletin board material that makes the game meaningful

Maybe they have it in their website.

Anyway... refreshing and straight from the team.

I hate the Super Bowl ****. Every game is meaningful. It we beat the Hawks it's just an added plus to any season. I want to beat Nebraska, Mizzou, KSU, Kansas, and Colorado just as bad as I want to beat the Hawks. The only reason it means so much to me is because they are in the state, and some of their fans are cocky as hell. If the Hawk fans want to call it our Super Bowl, they better treat it the same way. Every week is going to be their Super Bowl, you know, since they have already claimed a spot in the National Championship.

On another note since this thread seems to be about KXNO, anyone notice lately how many plugs the local shows have been giving to Dan Patrick's morning show. I've listened to KXNO for years and now all of a sudden in the last two weeks, Deice and Miller, Murph and Andy, and Matt and Miller have all given little plugs like..."I was listening to Dan Patricks interview.....or......"On the Dan Patrick show this morning he brought up a good point.....

Does KXNO feel paranoid that Mike and Mike in the morning is on the Champ and they dont want to lose the morning crowd because Mike and Mike is a better football show????

Also I wish the local shows would focus on the local football crowd rather than if Reggie Bush should give his Heisman trophy back....We had to listen to that all day with the national syndicates, and then Matt and Miller come on and start off the show with USC and Reggie Bush topic...Who cares, and in this state a rivalry game is going on this week

If you are offended by Perrault, keep it to yourself. Many of us are smart enough not to listen and don't want to read about it either. If you are dumb enough to listen, it's on you.

I will advise the OP to take the gun away from your head which he obviously used to force you to read this thread.

Hayden Fry was interviewed by Cotlar today and was pretty clear about how much extra emphasis Iowa puts on the game and how important it is for Iowa to beat ISU. The "this is ISU's superbowl and ISU cares more than Iowa" stance is a thought shared by ignorant hawk fans and apparently certain ignorant radio hosts on kxno.

Yep.

Remember, Ol' White Britches lost three of his first four (including losses by his first two bowl teams) against a Donnie Duncan-led ISU team, and two of those losses were in Iowa City. To Donnie flippin' Duncan!!! That's when Fry made it a personal mission to emphasize the importance of beating ISU.

Oh, and by the way, the players love this damn game, the coaches love this damn game and I love this damn game. To me, that's all that counts. It would be a crying shame if people really felt the way this idiot thinks, because it's the one time, every year, the whole state is watching the same game.

It's up to both schools to compete like they do this week every other week, but they better keep this one on the schedule.

Matt P demonstrated his historic ignorance by repeating that OLD standard HAWK line, "Iowa has nothing to gain by playing ISU nationally . . . because it's ISU's SUPER BOWL." Way to go Giggles! You are a genius.

BTW, let me help you . . PLEASE do not go to the Iowa/ISU Saturday . . do us all a favor for once and stay in your apartment flipping channels.

What exactly does "it's our Super Bowl" mean.? Does it mean that we want to win the game more? There are only 12 games in a college football season, so if our team has an advantage by wanting it more I'll take that. I really don't understand why it is an insult. These are Division 1 athletes and coaches, so I'm pretty sure there is enough motivation on both sides of the ball to win this game.

Sure Hayden emphasized the ISU game, but the disasters that were Jim Criner and (especially) Jim Walden had something to do with that too...

The way i see it, is like Elementary School...Perrault is like the new kid in town, and becomes friends with you in the beginning, but then ditches you for "the cool crowd" and then pushes you in mud, just because that's what the 'cool kids" would do....
