Inevitably, my wife had this on last night, first episode I've wasted any of my life on...anyway, she sides with Jon. From what I hear I probably would, but I have to admit...Jon sounded oddly nonchalant about the whole thing to me. Maybe that's because he mentally checked out of the relationship long ago.

Either way...thought it was funny they kept saying "it's about the kids"...I don't know, sounded hallow to me. First and last partial episode....don't know how you all do it.

Believe it or not, that is about as close as Jon has ever come to standing up for himself. He said that he has allowed Kate to run the roost for years and he finally couldn't take any more. He wanted more privacy, she said no. He wanted less publicity, she writes 2 books and goes on a publicity tour. He had to quit his job to stay home with the kids while she toured the country. This is the only way for him to get what he wants.

If it really were about the kids, they'd stay together and work out their differences. This is about the parents and not the kids who are the ones who are really going to suffer.

If it really were about the kids, Kate wouldn't be exploiting her kids right now and Jon wouldn't have allowed her to do so from the beginning.

Kate is hot. She is a cougar.

I am not sure of the definition of "cougar" but I thought it was an older woman (typically with the kids already having left the home). That would mean that Kate is not a cougar. Can we get a clarification here? Thanks.

Kate is not a cougar unless she starts going after young guys.

Testifying
I just couldn't have 8 kids for the fact of not wanting to drive an airport van for 18 years anytime we go anywhere.

I have been on Jon's side but I totally agree with your comment that I highlighted. I was really kind of shocked by his attitude. And what about the ear rings? I think this guy is having his mid-life crisis a little early.

I think they both kept saying "it's about the kids" because they are both trying to talk themselves into believing this as well as trying to talk the audience into believing this to bring some sympathy towards them. The reality is that it is all about them...plain and simple.

The earrings completely pushed me to Kate's side. Seriously, dude, you have 8 kids.

It's pretty clear from the interviews that he wants to be able to do things that most guys did in their 20s. I understand that but he's coming across as selfish.

Can't blame the guy if he didn't. Kate treated him like absolute ****. I don't know how the hell he put up with it for so long.

I agree she has treated him like a whipping boy...but...that is no excuse for cheating on your wife (if he in fact did this as has been reported).

In fact, a man with 8 kids all under 7 or 8 years old really should not be out at bars getting drunk with 20 year old girls...even if he didn't "officially" cheat on her.

There is really no excuse for these actions in my opinion. You confront your spouse if you have problems and try to resolve them as adults. You don't go out and get hammered with some young hotties. His actions really show some serious immaturity.

Probably true, however what's up with Kate's Boob job and tummy tuck etc etc. They both seem to be pretty vain.

According to the Urban Dictionary, there are 3 definitions, and here is the first:

Cougar 5382 up, 641 down An older woman who frequents clubs in order to score with a much younger man. The cougar can be anyone from an overly surgically altered wind tunnel victim, to an absolute sad and bloated old horn-meister, to a real hottie or milf. Cougars are gaining in popularity -- particularly the true hotties -- as young men find not only a sexual high, but many times a chick with her **** together.

That cougar I met last night, showed me **** I didn't know existed, I'm goin back for more.

Urban Dictionary: cougar

Staying together for the sake of the kids is VERY RARELY the right thing to do...

I disagree with you on this one.

The reality is that the vast majority of homes are not like the home of Ozzie and Harriet Nelson or June and Ward Cleaver. Spouses have communication issues and sometimes argue...that is the real world. What is wrong with kids seeing that (assuming there is no physical abuse or drug/alcohol dependencies involved)? And then seeing the parents work through the issue, compromise and stay committed to their relationship.

The reality is that parents typically split for their own selfish reasons...not for the kids. The bottom line, in my opinion, is that it is not good for a kid to miss out on having a full time mother or a full time father.

A marriage is more than just about love...it is about committment...especially when you bring children into the picture.

If you have watched the show for years, she needed the tummy tuck. Those kids did a number on her, and the episode they talked about it, I really felt bad for her.

Kind of interesting that they did whole episodes on her tummy tuck and his hair plugs, but her boob job was kept pretty secret.
