Ian Parker has been the steady, dependable winner for the Iowa State Cyclones this year, surging to a 19-2 record with four ranked wins on the season. His most recent victories, a 4-3 decision over No. 13 Dom Demas and a 6-3 decision over No. 15 Kaid Brock, earned him Big 12 Wrestler of the Week honors. Though Parker still has a big slate of top-ranked matchups ahead of him, a two-loss record heading into February is not a bad place for sophomore to be right now.

A former 133 pounder, Parker has excelled at 141, a more natural weight for the redshirt sophomore. He remains undefeated in duals, with his next test coming against No. 14 Matt Findlay of Utah Valley on February 3. Parker finished last season with nine losses and a fifth place finish at the Big 12 tournament, a solid performance but not enough to qualify him for the NCAA championship. Ranked No. 11 on Intermat as of January 28, Parker could be in contention for not just a ticket to the Pittsburgh but a chance to put himself on the podium.

Jamie Pollard, Waylon Jennings and Buddy Holly

Kinda cool trivia - as I watched a news clip of the 60th anniversary of Buddy Holly's death and they showed a brief snip of the autograph wall from Buddy's last performance at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake; right next to Waylon Jenning's autograph is JP's, from 2006.
PS: Waylon played bass in Buddy's band that night and after the gig gave his airplane seat to Ritchie Valens.

Cheez-It Vs. Goldfish

Don't know how to make a poll but I know you guys will come through. My daughter (17 years old and wife agrees with her) says she doesn't like Cheez-It's but loves Goldfish. I say they are the same thing except Goldfish give 1/2 the crackers for 2X the money. Whats better:

Cheez-Its
Goldfish
They are the same

Big 12 Mid-season COY

Is it a forgone conclusion that if a team wins the conference outright their coach will win the COY this year? I’ve seen a ton of hype for Scott Drew to be COY, but none whatsoever for Prohm. Some even going as far as saying Drew is a lock no matter what happens the rest of the season. Who is your mid-season Big 12 COY? What is your prediction for COY at the end of the season? Anyone think Prohm could get it if we finish 3rd? Would Drew win it finishing 3rd?

My mid-season COY is Scott Drew, only because they are currently ranked higher than us, but not for long.

My guess for the end of the season COY is that Kansas has to win outright or split with KSU for Self to get it. Winning 15 straight with your least impressive team is worthy in my book. If any team shares with Kansas the other coach would get it automatically, except KSU. Idk who would get COY if we split with Baylor. KSU will need to win the league outright for Weber to get it, because of their high preseason expectations. Any way it boils down, with such a competitive year the league is having, I think any team will need at least a share of the regular season title for their coach to earn COY, and it is down to Prohm, Drew, Weber, and Self (Tech is a mess right now). But since I think we will win it outright, it will be Prohm.

ISU wins conference championship if...

ISU wins conference championship, if

Lard remembers his primary skill is shot blocking.
Wiggington remembers his primary reason for being on the court is to shoot 3's.
Team develops (pass) plays to assist (Babb) in moving the ball past mid-court.
Jacobs becomes more aggressive on offensive rebound put backs.
Zone defense is mixed in opportune times.
Team continues to hit FT's
Coach Prohm becomes more proactive on players strengths.

ISU misses out on historic opportunity to win conference, if

Lard continues to have a lack of focus and discipline on the court.
Wiggington continues to turn the ball over almost every time he touches the ball.
Opponents create foul trouble for Babb.
Team continues to miss layups.
Same team allows opponents to get free for open layups.

My take.
