So it sounds like there's another complete shakeup in the ESPN radio lineup. I can't see this going well for ESPN.

Scratching an itch for my move (Thursday!!!!) to CoSprings and thinking about a new(er) jeep. Actually it's for my wife and I'm stuck with my WAY sexy Honda CR-V (but I have the touring package so THAT "helps"). I'm less interested in hearing about reliability issues (I drove a range rover for years and had an earlier version of the grand cherokee) but more in the different package levels.

We won't be "off-roaders", no rock crawling but do expect to explore more back country so want SOME of that celebrated Jeep off-roadedness... Also want the ability to drive the thing comfortably cross county if needed.

Anyone with insight on the higher levels of jeep like the Rubicon? My guess is it will be overkill for what I think we want to do, but curious of others experience.

Said the station is reviewing seasons from the last 15 years to figure out what season to run when the normal season don’t happen. Basically gonna run it like it was happening live every Saturday Including gameday from that year.

If the university were to build another residential space on campus, likely around the time that towers is torn down, who would be interested in seeing a classic collegiate-style quadrangle on campus?

Plausible locations: the old towers site, or the intramural fields east of MWL.

East of MWL would make for an excellent entrance to the university, a true sign that you are now on campus. Moreover, much of the intramural fields could still be retained given the ample amount of space.

Or, the towers site provides a perfectly shaped plot of land, and it could help to create a true campus feel even when you aren't on central campus.

Architectural style could be Collegiate Gothic, Colonial, or something more in-line with the rest of campus architecture. Though ISU does have quite a variety of architecture and any style could be made to work.

A collegiate quad could add to the historic feel that is lacking on some parts of campus. It would also make the area feel more like a true university town, a feeling that other towns in Iowa (won't name names) simply don't evoke.

A question for the real estate and personal finance folks on the board. Barring a plunge in the real estate and/or job market (which we will ignore for the purposes of this question), we plan to sell our house next spring. We will be moving from a higher priced market (Minneapolis metro) to a lower priced market (outskirts of Des Moines metro).

Based upon current comps, we may have as much as 50% equity to put down on the future Iowa home. I'm looking for some input and advice on the following thoughts:

1) If the Iowa home needs some repairs, am I right in that we could liquidate some of that equity to use for that purpose? Say, we put 35% down and take 15% in cash for repairs/updates? From what I read, there aren't any tax implications here (we are below the $250k threshold)?

2) We may be able to afford a 15 year mortgage on the new place, given our equity position. Is this a worthwhile thing to do? Or, would it be better to go with the 30 year mortgage and just make extra payments. (Note: my wife and I are disciplined spenders/savers, so we would actually pay extra, not just say it). What are the pros/cons here, aside from lower interest rate and faster payoff?

Pete Mundo ranked the best non-cons on his latest Heartland College Sports podcast:

(Assuming for the moment that there is a season this year ...) Which non-conference games do you think will define this year's edition of the Big 12 football conference?

Notes:

• Pete included 2 Oklahoma games, but no Oklahoma State game. I replaced his #10 game, OU @ Army, with Oklahoma State's season opener vs Oregon State. Maybe not a headliner, but its a Pac 12 opponent, and that way each conference team is represented in the poll.
• For TCU, I also replaced SMU with the road game at California. SMU is huge in the Metroplex, but a matchup with the Pac 12 on opening weekend is more meaningful nationally. I think they will crush SMU anyway. SMU wins one of these every 10-15 years. They won last year, and I don't care who you are, if you beat coach Patterson one year, you gonna pay for it the next year.
• Why include Iowa State at Iowa, when nearly all of us will pick that one? Well ... because the game is HUGE! The teams ought to be ranked, and this is the last monkey on Matt Campbell's back. As Pete points out, too, the Cyclones will outclass the Hawkeyes at the QB position for the first time in a long time.

I am moving to a new house in about 3 weeks where fiber will be an option for internet. I have had CenturyLink for a long time but considering Mi-Fiber. Anyone have experience with Mi-Fiber?
