Selling Tailgating Rig Questions

Have any of my fellow CFer's sold their tailgating rig lately? I am contemplating selling my tailgating bus and going a different route and wanted to know what are some thoughts from people when it comes to selling one. I am trying to decide what all I want to sell with it. I have a whole set with satellite, TVs, etc, or I can sell just the bus.

Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Coach Messingham Sighting

Today, I saw Coach Mess at the High School where I work. He was decked out in KSU gear & was talking to our head FB coach. My guess is that our coach's son (a Sophomore) is on their radar. We also have a Sophomore TE who is a very good 5-sport athlete that they may be checking out. This kid's sister is an incredible athlete as well (was a D-1 Nat'l Frosh of the Week in basketball - Columbia University). Not sure if either of these kids are on CMC's radar. Both are very good students and have good frames (6'3 / 6'4).

New commitment

I’m proud to announce that I will pursue my lifelong dream by continuing my academic and athletic career at Iowa State University. Thanks to everyone who has supported me. Go Cyclones!

From Des Moines Register
“A similar trend is unfolding for the Cyclones’ 2019 haul, and it continued Wednesday morning when Ankeny Centennial’s Eric Owens announced his commitment to the program.

Owens is a two-time state medalist for the Jaguars, and reached the Class 3A state finals at 145 pounds this past season. “

Verizon 5G Coming to Des Moines in 2019

DSM will have 5G cell phone service by the end of 2019.

I'm hoping that DSM also gets the 5G home internet as well. Would love to dump CL and Mediacom.
$50 for 300 up/300 down.
I hope it can cover the whole DSM metro.
Verizon also recent announced an expanded partnership with Youtube TV. I'm hoping theres a cellphone/5G/YTTV bundle in the future!

The off-season is long, so I need some songs!

I’m trying to find recordings of all the Marching Band and Pep Band songs to get me through the summer.

The one on my mind is the song that plays during the cheerleaders performance when they do the backflips in Hilton and I can’t find it anywhere.

There’s the album on Spotify with a few high quality recordings of the fight song and some fanfare, but anything more would be great. I’ll take fan recorded YouTube videos at this point.

INSIDER: Grad transfers & a coaching nugget

Obviously it is out there that Little Rock's Rayjon Tucker is visiting. Iowa State zeroed in on him merely hours after being eliminated from the NCAA Tournament.

Unless something changes, I think that Tucker or Texas A&M's Admon Gilder will be Iowa State's only chances at a grad transfer. Both would be major impact guys for next season. Obviously the competition will be heavy for both.

I started hearing rumblings about Gilder about a week ago. He played under Billy Kennedy at Texas A&M and sat out last year to injury. I am thinking that Iowa State will get a visit from him .... not official yet but I do foresee it happening.

One final note: Sounds like Daniyal Robinson was a finalist for the Northern Kentucky head coaching job and ended up losing out to Darrin Horn yesterday.

Basketball Rule Changes?

What are your preferences for rule changes and/or how would the change impact Iowa State?

My preferences:

NBA Draft Stock (Not necessarily my preference but I believe this is the inevitable outcome)
  • NBA will draft right out of high school.
  • NBA will still draft one and done when someone like THT emerges
How to handle College kids trying their luck at the draft
  • Allow colleges to fill the scholly when a kid announces their intent to test the waters
  • If they come back and their old school does not have room for them they can transfer to any school they want without sitting out a year provided they maintained academic eligibility standards
  • A kid can come back even if they are drafted (let the NBA teams take the risk) so long as they do not take money
Transfers (maybe wishful thinking)
  • Grad transfers do not change
  • Kids caught in a coaching change can transfer without sitting out
  • All other transfers must sit out a year (my guess is academic integrity becomes more important if the one and dones are not in the equation)

My predicted impact to Iowa State

My guess is with the increased viability of the G-League that as many as 30 HS Seniors might get drafted each year albeit many in the second round. I would not be surprised to see the NBA add a round of drafting. This is significantly more than the high of nine kids in 2005 but the G-League was not a viable option at that point. Additionally, eighteen freshman were drafted last year (and one eligible HS).

With the trickle down effect, Duke and company are now getting the 25th - 31st best kid making competition for solid but development needy players like Hailiburton higher. Inevitably we lose a few of these kids (Wigginton?) but I think our program becomes BETTER relatively speaking than other options provided we maintain our current performance. If you are THT or Haliburton, Iowa State is an awesome option. If you "have to stick around" for a few years, you do so in front of awesome fans. If your talent emerges, you do it against premier competition and can leave early ala THT.

I think Iowa State also would benefit as a transfer option when the Dukes and Kentuckys see less one and dones. Right now, the blue bloods are claiming the top transfers to replace at least a portion of their one and dones. The correlation between guys ranked 25+ as HS recruits being ready for the NBA (perhaps ever) after a year is far less than 1-25 (particularly 1-15). If the blue bloods are keeping more guys, they need less transfers. In fact the blue bloods might see more exodus because they are also more likely to get guys disgruntled with PT. The 25th or 31st best guy in a class is still a stud but if three of them are playing the same position chances are someone is sitting. Hello Iowa State! .

Regardless I think all of this makes the College Basketball game better. We will still have a few one and dones but we have far more two, three and even four years guys.

Youth knee issue

So my 12 yo son injured his knee from someone falling on it while in wrestling practice a few months ago. This resulted in him not being able to extend the leg but it felt fine when he kept it bent. After a day or two it resolved on it's own but then it would happen again and again every few weeks, mostly from kneeling on the ground or the couch (wrestling practice has long since ended).

We've been to the Ortho doc and have had an MRI and there is no structural damage. The inability to extend is most likely due to fluid on the knee which is why it always resolves on it's own anywhere from a few hours to a few days.

This happened again a few days ago after no instances in several months. It seems odd that it keeps happening. The doc suggested that it may have something to due with him being in a growth spurt which can cause weird things in the joints. Has anyone experience this with their kids or themselves?
