Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

You, me, and 95% on here would not be pounding the table to help Iowa out and let them in. Be serious
We wouldn’t have to pound the table because if the roles were reversed the Iowa Legislature would do the same thing Oklahoma’s attempted to do and tie any realignment by ISU as conditional on Iowa going as well. The Iowa General Assembly doesn’t really care for ISU.

Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Without a doubt, but is 34 teams enough programing and do they want to be forced to set up a championship tournament for every sport? How well are the TV ratings going to be when they leave out 55% of the fan bases? I mean how many fans of none B10 or SEC are going to be watching those games, knowing that there team is not part of the big boy league?

The NCAA is not going to give them an out for football, but staying for all the rest of the sports, I mean why would they? By doing so they give up all leverage and might as well just fold the entire organization or let all the schools free and work on the smaller levels.
Do you not think the ACC is going to have several of its top programs poached in the not too distant future once we get closer to the GoR expiring? I wouldn't count on the B1G staying at 18 and the SEC at 16 once that becomes feasible. I could be wrong.

Star Wars Expanded Universe Thread

I thought mando was really good! It probably lacked a little bit of tension and consequences just because they weren’t saving the galaxy or anything. Marvel ran into the same thing once Endgame was over. After you watch them fight over the fate of the universe, it's kinda tough to watch Spiderman battle Vulture or Thor battle whoever Christian Bale was playing. This was more personal stakes than universal, and that's OK.

[SPOILERS]
First off, my complaints: I thought that the 3rd act dragged a little bit and they could have cut 10 minutes out. I didn't care too much for using Jeremy Allen White's voice for Rotta...the other Hutts had the usual low booming Hutt voice and Rotta sounded the same as the character from The Bear or the Springsteen biopic. I thought that they should have altered his voice some. Guess it just took some getting used to. My only other complaint was that the Twins had an army of droids. That's fine I guess, but why not throw in some Gamorian guards or those prune face guys from Jabba's skiff? Also, some of those droids had the same round hat as the bounty hunter that brought Mando there and that was a little confusing. I do think that they underused Zeb some. He should have had more scenes.

Other than those, I thought it was a fun movie. There was a car chase, a dogfight, a gladiator style battle, and Mando with a ton of hand-to-hand fighting with multiple aliens/monsters/stormtroopers. We got to see the Hutts actually move. I've always been a big Sigourney Weaver fan ever since Aliens and it was cool to see her piloting an X-Wing. They probably went a little overboard with some of the Grogu scenes, but that's fine. Overall, it was a fun movie to watch given I didn't have a lot of expectations. Worth going to for any SW fan.

Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

The whole point of breaking away is to give the B10 and SEC less competition to compete with. Delegitimize other conferences. Get a bigger media deal. Adding teams that don't create more value but still get a piece of the pie wouldn't make sense in this scenario.

NBA: *** 2025-26 NBA Thread ***

A couple years back the NBA put in rules about guys jumping into contact to get fouls. It seams they’ve totally bailed on that and now are calling everything again. Spurs not really helping themselves either getting too aggressive on D and letting OKC get calls. Can’t really blame OKC for taking advantage of of a loophole but it’s not that fun to watch.

You mean his comment that he immediately said was his joke during a global pandemic when the conference was making up the rules as they went? It makes it irrelevant.

I’ll tell ya what, if we get another once in a lifetime pandemic and the big ten cancels the season only to scape something together last min then it’s a fair talking point
Wrong again. He didn’t make it public during COVID, but after.

Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Hope there are some lawyers on this forum willing to take up the cause to go after the Big 10 and SEC if they breakaway. I'll pitch in for their time. Not counting on our Iowa politicians to help us out.
The B10 and SEC had anti trust lawyers sit in on their joint meetings knowing they are playing with legal fire. Rest assured that if they break away and numerous schools are relegated in the process, Fed antitrust lawyers will be all over them.
