Smoking Meat Questions and Discussion

Testing out the snake method for the first time on my Weber kettle. I've smoked a lot with it using the coal baskets off to the side with decent results.

I went with 2 charcoals on the bottom row and put 1 on top. I'm about an hour in and it seems to be ranging between 225 -250 with only a few vent adjustments so far. I'm liking that I'm getting much better air flow with this method as I was needing to choke it down quite a bit with what I was doing before.
What are you smoking?

If I am Milan, I am not sure I want to go someplace like Kentucky where there a bunch of "me me me" players and a okay but not good or great coach - and then try to build on the year he just had at ISU.

If he comes back and it isn't ISU it better be someplace like St Johns, UCONN (gag) or Duke where the coach actually knows how to build a team and develop talent.

Even then, the likelihood of him putting up a year that raises his stock over what he did this year is pretty low - and that is not a knock on Milan - he was just setup perfectly this year with the type of talent and system he had to play in.
Money is money, I would take the most I was offered and go from there. He game is what it is, there is not going to be some magical jump after next season. The scouts are telling him that he is a fringe prospect to make the league, possible but not high to have a long NBA career. It's up to him, I would return to college, make a bunch of dough and then work on what they are telling him what he need to work on. If that means scoring less to be a better passer, or taking it to the hoop more than what is what he needs to do. Because now they are telling him that his scoring alone is not going to be enough to make the league.

Dumbest Thing You Believed

for a large chunk of my childhood I really thought wars were only in the past, like they were really bad, but they didn't happen anymore.
I clearly remember being pretty shocked to find out about the Iraq war in grade school, I definitely had some cognitive dissonance trying to reconcile that.
Funny, I grew up during the Viet Nam era, From my earliest recollection, we were in this never ending war, which I assumed I'd be a part of someday. Thankfully, it ended when I was a teen.

That probably doesn't offset the scars of growing up with the constant threat of nuclear destruction being an almost foregone conclusion in the 60s.

Dumbest Thing You Believed

When I watched a biographical type of movie when I was little, I was puzzled how a camera crew knew to film their life/knew they'd have success later. So I would always secretly hope I was being filmed and I didn't know it wanting to be famous/important when I got old.
I had this mindset that they knew their fate and it was never in doubt. I figured Columbus knew he would be discovering America and the George Washington knew he'd defeat the Brits and become president. And that all Americans knew we'd be on the winning side of WWI and WWII.

I remember thinking how stupid it was that people on the West Coast were worried about the Japanese invading. Then after 9/11 and we all waited for the next immediate major attack I finally "got it."

It came to me like a bolt of lightening that it was all just them living their lives and taking it as it came.

Somewhat similar to that, when I was super-young, I thought DJ's were tiny people inside the radio. I don't know if I thought of the actual music the same way, because I already was heavy into listening to records.

Also, I probably didn't REALLY believed they were little people inside the box, but it "sounded" that way.
For most of my youth I didn't differentiate between local media/personalities/events and national/international. They were all equally famous, and a long ways away somewhere. And things happened there. Not like in my boring little farm town 3 miles away from our home/farm.

I was hoping his bust status was something to do with the last managerial staff. With what we’re seeing again this year, sadly it’s just a Royce thing. Biggest overall No. 1 draft pick bust?
In the past 20 years there have been a few that didn’t or barely stuck in the majors. But when you look at all the others, Royce is definitely looking like one of the worst 4-5 in the past 25 years.

It's weird how there was a time in my life when I'd be obsessing over where Milan is going to end up. However, since I know he's not coming back to ISU, I don't give a rip where he goes.

I'm no longer a fan of his. Not butt hurt, just no longer a fan. Too many other things in my life to obsess over.
I agree, I am interested in where he goes and what he decides, but since ISU is now out of the question, I really do not worry about it. Go to the NBA, find another school, do what you want. Not losing any sleep over it, either way.

Watched a Royce Lewis interview and he was asked if he understood why he was demoted. He said it is not his job to understand??? C'mon Royce, maybe it's because you hit .132 with a .380 OPS and a strikeout rate above 31 percent after returning from your injury. I'm glad he's tearing it up at St. Paul, but quit being obtuse.
