The most important band to you

Just curious what band or artist has had the biggest impact on everyone.

For me it's Acid Bath. No matter how bad life gets, this band's music has gotten me through EVERYTHING for the last 30 years. I can't even put into words how therapeutic this bands music has been for me. The voice of Dax Riggs is perfect, and I love his dark poetic lyrics. He was only 20 years old when they released their first album (1994) and his voice still sounds exactly the same today. Musically they are all over the place. They are referred to as a "sludge" band, but I call them "Louisiana swamp metal." I really like the blues elements that they mix in. To me their songs are so beautiful but dark and somewhat morbid at the same time.

Big 12 Portal Tracker

I haven't seen one of these yet. I figured i'd start one.

Here are the big things i've seen after perusing recruiting sites.

Arizona- a nice TE addition from Illinois

ASU- recovered from losing their QB1 by bringing a guy in from Kentuky

BYU- no big moves

Baylor- a decent amount of attrition including losing their leading rusher

Cincinnati- looks like a number of guys are following Sorsby out the door

Colorado- they seem to be reinforcing the defence. uncharacteristically quiet...

Houston- got an old Tulane RB from Oregon

The Good Guys- JFR!!!

Kansas- similar to Colorado

K-State- lost a lot of top end defensive talent to bigger money schools

OSU- The Oklahoma State Mean Green!

TCU- not much notable since losing hoover

Tech- got Sorsby

Mid-Florida- decent amount of guys in the portal. not a lot of additions yet.

Utah- lost a lot of guys to the portal, some are probably heading to Michigan

WVU- a nice commit from the Oklahoma QB

On That Note: (All About That) Bass

Happy New Year, from the crew at OTN (@MeanDean, @CycloneRulzzz and cyclones500).

For this segment, we focus on songs that open with a bass guitar line. Ideally, it'd be bass-only, but we allow tracks that include additional instruments/sounds/vocals, as long as bass is THE prominent element.
Here's one to get us "low" (in an "uplifting" way!).

It isn't my favorite from the group, and perhaps overplayed, but captures the basic theme.

Michigan State offensive lineman Gavin Broscious commits to Iowa State

Iowa State's surge on the offensive line continues with the commitment of Michigan State guard Gavin Broscious.

The 6'4, 308 pound lineman played all 12 games in 2025 for the Spartans, starting four at left guard. Broscious spent four seasons in East Lansing and will have two years of eligibility after a redshirt year and a medical redshirt year.

Wazzu Safety Brody Miller commits to Iowa State

Washington State safety Brody Miller is transferring to Iowa State. Miller redshirted as a freshman in 2025, appearing in five games. The 6'1, 178 pounder was the No. 24 overall prospect out of Minnesota in the Class of 2024.

Side by side/UTV

Looking at replacing the four-wheeler with a side by side. What's your experience with the different brands? Can Am Defender and Polaris Ranger seem to be a toss-up between the two. The Kawasaki Ridge looks like a decent option as well. Plan is to use for light work around the property, gravel travel, and rural riding. Mostly pleasure riding. Closed cab with heat. Those of you that have two seaters, do you wish you had the four-seater or is that overkill. Will primarily be the wife and I, but on occasion the extra room may be handy, but not sure if worth the expense. TIA

Kicker Adlai Lounsbury commits to Iowa State

Washington State kicker Adlai Lounsbury commits to Iowa State. The Van Meter native didn't appear in any games as a true freshman in 2025, bringing four years of eligibility to Ames.

Iowa State Scores Major Portal Win with Toledo transfer Braden Awls

Iowa State earned a commitment from their top portal prospect in Toledo transfer Braden Awls. I had the chance to talk with him about his visit and what he is excited about in coming to Iowa State. Check out all of that and more below.

Peacock

Does anyone know if Sunday's game will also be covered on NBC/Sports Net (not sure the exact name). I have seen other peacock games also streaming on a NBC Sports channel on YoutubeTV. Just getting exhausted of all of these subscriptions as an old person.

Washington State WR Carter Pabst commits to Iowa State

Iowa State lands their eighth Washington State transfer portal commit with the addition of wide receiver Carter Pabst.
