Because of the refs. Last time the Hawkeyes lost a game was Indiana in 1979 without the refs helping other other team. Also this is urban legend. They might not have lost that game for that reason

Jokes aside, being from MN, I occasionally watch a Gopher basketball game. They have been such a mess for so long! But, I think they finally have a good coach (Xs & Os, anyway). If he can get momentum and then recruit well, they may finally get competitive for the first time in over 25 years.
Part of me hopes this doesn't happen so we can keep recruiting MN, but I'd like them to be a thorn in Iowa's side as much as possible.

A couple of years ago they complained that the ball in the big dance was not what they practiced with. Which is why they lost.

I heard a complaint at work today about Minnesota's raised court and it effecting their jump shooting.
Have you ever read any game thread on this site? You will see dozens of complaints about the refs/officials in every MBB and football game thread. Literally every one no matter how well ISU played.
