LIVE BLOG: Early National Signing Day

Close to 20 high school seniors will make their decisions to become Cyclones official today with the start of the first early signing period for high school football players. We will keep track of the letters as they come in right here.

8:30 a.m. — There’s already quite a few letters in so I’ll jump right into it.

8:47 – We should be up to date with all the letters that have come in so far. It sounds like top Iowa State wide receiver target Jeshaun Jones will announce his college decision in a ceremony at his school at 10 a.m. central.

I’m still thinking Nebraska and Maryland should be considered the front runners, but I would not be surprised if Iowa State landed him either. Stay tuned.

Now, some more tweets.

9:02 – Allen, Texas wide receiver Carson Schleker has made his commitment official.

9:26 a.m. – The Cyclones have their punter.

9:40 a.m. – Michigan cornerback Jaeveyon Morton and California quarterback Re-al Mitchell are the next ones to make it official.

10:18 a.m. – Only a couple guys left after Gerry Vaughn faxed in his letter of intent. That leaves North Scott DE Zach Petersen, Illinois DT Isaiah Lee, and California DB Dallas Taylor-Cortez.

10:28 a.m. – Jeshaun Jones just committed to Maryland. Will be interesting to see what Iowa State does with the remaining spots in this class, but I expect them to target at least one more wide receiver prospect in January. Four-star Joseph Scates will be high on their list for sure.

10:47 a.m. – Looks like Zach Petersen has signed his NLI. Waiting to see anything official from Iowa State, but I’ll add it when I do.

10:55 a.m. – Isaiah Lee’s letter of intent is in. Still haven’t seen anything from Iowa State on Petersen yet. Taylor-Cortez is the only one left to sign today. Reminder, Josh Madison isn’t expected to sign until February.

11:11 a.m. – Boom. Iowa State officially keeps on the fastest rising in-state players at home.

1:43 p.m. – The last letter of the early signing period is in. Big day for the Cyclones.
