After going into the first quarter break with an 18-15 lead, Team Canada and former Cyclone Bridget Carleton weren’t able to overcome a scoreless drought in their 73-54 loss to France.
Carleton tallied eight points in the game while shooting 3-7 from the field.
On top of it, the Chatham, Ontario native corralled eight rebounds and team highs with two steals and a pair of blocks in the team’s Paris Olympics opener.
Canada mustered just two points to France’s 23 in the second quarter, which ultimately led to the loss.
The team will return to the court to face Australia on Thursday (6:30 a.m. Peacock), which started its Olympics with a loss to Nigeria.
