Cyclones in the NBA: Gabe Kalscheur to play for Minnesota Timberwolves Summer League

A former Cyclone and Minnesota native in Gabe Kalscheur is headed to the NBA Summer League with the Timberwolves.

The move became official on Sunday, giving Cyclone fans a second former player to keep eyes on in Sumer League play, along with Hason Ward.

Ward scored 1 point and added three rebounds with two assists in 12 minutes on the floor during Sacramento’s 108-94 win over Los Angeles on Saturday night.

Kalscheur began his collegiate career at Minnesota, before transferring to Iowa State, where he finished with an average of 12.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in his final season (2022-23).

Most recently, Kalscheur played 14 games with the Iowa Wolves, averaging 4.4 points per game on a 34 percent shooting percentage.

Minnesota will begin its NBA Summer League play in Las Vegas on Friday, July 12 against New Orleans at 4:00 p.m. on ESPN2.
