Former Cyclones help Battlehawks trounce DC

A pair of former Cyclones in wide receiver Hakeem Butler, and linebacker Mike Rose & Willie Harvey Jr. helped lead the St. Louis Battlehawks to a 45-12 win over the DC Defenders in United Football League action.

Butler caught six passes in the game from former Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron, recording 147 yards and two touchdowns, including an 80-yard house call that put the game out of reach for DC.

Shortly after Butler’s 80-yard score, Rose put the Battlehawks in position to score again, with a long interception return.

He finished the game with 11 total tackles, including one for a loss, and a pass breakup along with the pick below.

Harvey Jr. got in on the fun recovering a fumble, as well as three tackles in the game.

Battlehawks coach Anthony Becht, who’s also the father of current Cyclone quarterback Rocco Becht, can be seen below celebrating in the locker room with Rose appearing in the background.

The St. Louis Battlehawks will return to the field Saturday, May 4 to face the Houston Roughnecks at 2:00 p.m. on FOX.
