RECRUITING: Marcus Neal to take official visit over weekend, set to sign with Iowa State

Raytown South High School’s Marcus Neal is using his official visit this weekend, and will be on the ground in Ames ahead of college football’s National Early Signing Day.

The Missouri prospect is rated as the No. 15 player from the state according to 247 Sports and the No. 98 prospect at his position, overall.

“It’s great,” Neal said. “I’m just ready to be a Cyclone and make everything official.”

Neal, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect said that Iowa State has felt like home since day 1.

He chose the Cyclones over offers from Kansas State, Toledo, Air Force, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois and SEMO.

“Ever since day 1, I felt home,” Neal said. “(Iowa State) was the first (staff) to take attention in me and believe in me. Coach Campbell is a great guy, and I fit in well with their players and their safeties, and stuff like that. I just see myself playing there and making an impact.”

He took an amount of joy in watching T.J. Tampa and Beau Freyler make plays during the 2023 season.

“It was great, them boys are some dogs,” Neal said of the pair. “They go out there and make plays, and they bring that energy every game. You can feel it every time. I felt the energy through the screen.”

Iowa State views Neal as a versatile defensive back, and could see him playing at a each of the different safety positions on the defensive side.

At the very least, he’ll have some talented leaders to learn from.
