IRVING, Texas – Evan Frost has been named the Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week, along with South Dakota State’s Tanner Jordan, the league office announced Tuesday. It is the first conference honor of his career and the second week in a row a Cyclone has been recognized.

Frost brought a sold-out Hilton Coliseum to its feet in Sunday’s Cy-Hawk dual when he defeated Iowa’s No. 8 Brody Teske, 8-1, in the 133-pound matchup. It marked the highest-ranked win of his career.

The redshirt freshman fended off three Teske attacks early in the match to find himself tied, 1-1, with the Hawkeye in the third period. Frost used a great misdirection attack to get in on a leg and secure the go-ahead takedown with 1:18 remaining.

Frost put on a tough ride and was able to turn Teske to his back for four near fall points with 30 seconds left. Frost rode out his opponent for the remainder of the match and was seconds away from locking up a riding time point which would have given him a major decision.

Iowa State is back in action this weekend at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Dec. 1-2. Action begins Friday at 11 a.m. (CT) on FloWrestling.
