Tyrese Haliburton named to NBA All-Star team for first time in his career

Former Iowa State Cyclone Tyrese Haliburton was named to his first career NBA All-Star game on Thursday night, as reserves were announced on TNT.

The former Cyclone, who coincidentally returns to the court from an injury the same night, is the NBA’s current assist leader, dishing the ball out 10.2 times per game.

Haliburton has played 40 games for the Pacers this season and is putting down 20.2 points per game thus far.

Haliburton drew some criticism earlier this year, but came through on becoming the All-Star he wanted to be: WATCH: Tyrese Haliburton responds to Szczerbiak’s wanna-be all-star comment.

The point guard is the first former Cyclone to play in an All-Star Game since Jeff Hornacek in 1992.

The NBA All-Star Game will be played on February 19 at 7:00 p.m. CT and can be seen live on TNT.
