One of the key pieces of Iowa State’s 2022 run to the Sweet 16 has decided to return for another season in Ames.
Senior guard Gabe Kalscheur has long been expected to return for his COVID-year next season and made those intentions official on Wednesday with an announcement on his Twitter account.
The former transfer from Minnesota started 34 of Iowa State’s 35 games in 2021-22 while averaging 9.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest. He also secured 43 steals, drew a team-leading 27 charges and was second on the team with 40 makes from 3-point range.
Kalscheur’s signature moment at Iowa State to this point arrived during the NCAA Tournament’s second round when he led the team with 22 points and shot 10-of-19 from the field in a win over Wisconsin.
Iowa State currently has two scholarships open for the 2022-23 season.
