Lipsey leads Ames into Class 4A title game

Tamin Lipsey will play for the state championship.

The Iowa State signee led his top-seeded Ames High team into the Class 4A title game for the first time since 2010 with a 62-43 win over Cedar Rapids, Kennedy on Thursday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Lipsey scored 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor and 5-of-7 from the free-throw line while also grabbing five rebounds, dishing five assists, securing three steals and blocking one shot in 31 minutes.

That followed a 16-point, nine assist effort from the young floor general in the Little Cyclones’ quarterfinal win over Burlington on Wednesday.

Ames will play the winner of Thursday’s nightcap between No. 3 seed Johnston and No. 7 seed Prairie, Cedar Rapids on Friday at 7 p.m.
