The following is a press release from Iowa State Athletics:

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State guard Izaiah Brockington has been named to the John R. Wooden Award presented by Wendy’s Midseason Top 25 Watch List today on ESPNU. The watch list is chosen by a poll of national college basketball experts based on their performances during the 2021-22 season thus far and it comprises 25 student-athletes who are front-runners for the prestigious award.

Brockington has had an outstanding start to the season, averaging 17.0 points and 8.4 rebounds, both of which rank in the top three of the Big 12 Conference. The Philadelphia native is shooting 50 percent from the field, 42.3 percent behind the arc and 79.4 percent at the line.

Brockington burst onto the scene this season with a 30-point effort in a win against Xavier. Then, against instrastate rival Iowa, Brockington dominated the game with 29 points on 11-of-14 shooting, while also pulling down 10 rebounds.

He leads the Big 12 Conference with six double-doubles this season.
