Iowa State head women’s basketball coach Bill Fennelly advises his players between quarters in a non-conference basketball game against Drake University on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.
Bill Fennelly’s roster has added another piece to its front court for the 2021-22 season.
The Iowa State women picked up a commitment from South Florida transfer Beatriz Jordao on Wednesday. The news was first reported by Tommy Birch of The Des Moines Register.
Jordao, a 6-foot-3 center from Portugal, averaged 2.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game as a junior in 2020-21 while appearing in 21 of the Bulls’ 23 games, including making one start. She scored a season-high 12 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and added four blocks in 26 minutes during a win over Jacksonville last November.
Jordao was twice named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week in 2018-19 before a season-ending leg injury cut her year short after just 12 games.
This is Iowa State’s second front court addition of the offseason after Butler transfer, and Sioux City native, Nyamer Diew announced she’ll be joining the program last month.
Those two players will be expected to battle with returners Morgan Kane and Izzi Zingaro for the bulk of the playing time down low.
