Did you know that Dale Pierson is America’s sack leader?

“How about that? An Iowa State Cyclone is leading the nation in sacks. That’s something to take note of.”

The above quote was from Paul Rhoads’ weekly Monday press conference so coach, here you go. We’re  enthusiastically taking note at CycloneFanatic.com.

Here’s our tip of the cap to Dale Pierson

Pierson, who came on strong at the end of his junior season in 2014, has been a regular in the opposition’s backfield so far this season.

“When he finally embraced our defense and his role, that’s when he really took off last year," Rhoads said. "He was a captain for us on Saturday not only on the game field but on the practice field. Players and coaches take note of that. He is getting that kind of pressure and those kinds of plays by effort as much as anything. He’s worked hard to develop his technique and some things scheme wise evaded him in the process.”

To put that number in perspective, Iowa State only had 14 sacks as a team in 2014.
