If you’re thinking about heading out to New York City to watch the Cyclones face UConn in the Sweet 16 on Friday night, get ready to open up your checkbook. Big time.
According to multiple news outlets including Newsday, Friday night’s Sweet 16 session featuring Iowa State and UConn along with Michigan State and Virginia is on pace to be the most expensive college basketball ticket in the history of Madison Square Garden.
"As of early Monday, the average price paid for a full weekend strip was $570, nearly double the $288 average for the Midwest Regional," wrote Newsday’s Neil Best.
Currently, the cheapest ticket available to Friday night’s session on Stubhub.com is going for $497.45. That’s in the balcony – way up there.
What’s it mean? UConn fans are going nuts. The Cyclones really will be playing an away game on Friday night in New York City.
