Jarrod Uthoff is planning to take an official visit to Iowa State on Thursday and Friday of this week.

Uthoff, the state of Iowa’s 2011 Mr. Basketball and Wisconsin transfer confirmed this news to CycloneFanatic.com on Tuesday afternoon.

Uthoff visited Creighton last week and while it’s still early in this second process, former Iowa State and current Creighton head coach Greg McDermott’s pitch went over well with the former Cedar Rapids Jefferson star.

“I like the way that they play and how they would use me,” said Uthoff. “He (Greg McDermott) sees me as a lot like his son (Doug McDermott) but obviously not as good at this point.”

Uthoff’s trip to Ames will be the second official visit of his second recruiting process in two years. Iowa State was a finalist to land Uthoff the first time around so he’s fairly familiar with the program.

“I have much more of an idea of what I’m looking for,” said Uthoff. “I can ask more detailed questions since I’ve already been through the process.”

Uthoff confirmed that he’s also having discussions with Florida.

“I’m working with them on a visit but I’m not really sure yet,” said Uthoff.

The same can be said for a Big East school that Iowa State seems to recruit against quite often.

“I”ll probably visit Marquette but I’m not sure yet,” said Uthoff.

Uthoff said that at this point, he isn’t sure exactly how many visits he’ll take or how long the process will last.

Uthoff redshirted last season at Wisconsin. He’ll have to sit out the 2012-13 season before being elgible as a sophomore in 2013-14.
