Brooks may not want the weight cut after this year. Could see him going up after this cycle….he appears to have the frame to continue putting on good wt.

He’s pretty thick for his height now.
Still could easily go 97 and win as well.

I don’t think you posting this picture helps your case that he could easily go 97 and win it all. Based on this picture he’s shorter than otoole and Carter. Look at him next to a true 197. Tazhudinov would absolutely tower over him and cause problems

Don't disagree, but the roll DT has been on the last 3 years or so was impressive. Not that Flo is the end all, but they had him ranked #1 P4P in the world. Make no mistake, this was a huge upset and there is a strong possibility that familiarity played a role.
I think they are both familiar with each other, no doubt. I just don’t think they train together anymore. Taylor has known that Brooks was his top contender for a while now. Same with Dake/Nolf. They don’t train together much if at all. There’s plenty of other top guys in the room for them all to train with.

If anything, I think Taylor looked super rusty. He wasn’t moving well at all. Has he competed since last year’s worlds?

The picture was in response to the comment about his frame. That’s why I said he was thick for his height.
The comment I made about doing well at 97 was acknowledging the previous two posters thoughts he could do well there so I didn’t look like I wanted to argue. "He could easily go 97 and win as well", meaning yes, he could complete with Snyder, like crablegs said. Never meant to imply anything about world or olympic success.

This is awesome. Its still strange to me that it had to come to this at 65kg. It seems like some of the best wrestlers we have in the country fall into this weight & we had to get pulled into repechage at the last chance qualifier to do it.

It is pretty strange, but we’re historically bad at this weight. Maybe we’ve had 2 medals over the past 20 years? Bill Zadick and Yianni? Both kind of flukish and no consistent results.

We didn’t qualify the weight at the last Olympics and Molinaro had to qualify at last chance qualifier the Olympics prior. He actually failed to qualify, but later there was a doping scandal that gave him a spot because he was the next highest placed.

Quite a few cyclones on the list set to compete. I am glad we have guys who want to compete to make the U20 and U23 teams. I feel like this hasn’t always been the case and it’s exciting to seem them out of season trying to make world teams. Now go get it done!

Should be fun to follow!
I saw MJ, Tate, Perryman, J. Frost, Redding, and Paniro on there.
Did I miss any?

Would be fun to speculate who the "massive" university head coaching position was.

My bet is on Ohio State. With the health issues Ryan is having after his car wreck I could easily see him slide into an advisory role similar to what Gable did.

I don't see Michigan upsetting their current staff/recruiting (let's be honest... buying their line-up) but we know their donors obviously have very deep pockets and it only takes one donor and a few million $$$ to get what they want.

Minnesota might have had a very outside chance.

If Iowa was smart they would make a change and recruit somebody outside their program sooner than later. It worked when they hired Gable.

Missing anybody?

I think C Pyles strongly hinted on FRL yesterday that OK St offered it to him first, then turned to DT when Dake turned it down.
