Not in the first half, I'll try to make it through the second half tonight.Does it at least have a monster truck and short fat bad guy in suspenders?

Humor is cultural.
One of the biggest box office hits ever in France, "Le Père Noël est une ordure" (Santa Claus is a piece of sh*t) tanked dramatically when they tried to remake it in English (Mixed Nuts). Even Steve Martin couldn't save it.
It's also temporal.
Most of what was funny decades ago is no longer that funny. And some of what was supposed to be serious is not hilarious. I give you "Reefer Madness".
Humor may be cultural, but that's not the problem. That's just a crappy trailer.
I'm about half way through the Roadhouse remake. It's pretty awful
I was today years old when I found out that The Ring I know was actually a remake.Good original/good remake:
Cape Fear
The Ring
Let the Right One In
The original (Ringu) seemed more like a short film that was stretched out to 90 minutes. At least that was how I felt when I watched it.I was today years old when I found out that The Ring I know was actually a remake.
I don't watch remakes, reboots, sequels that take place 30 years later, etc... The originals are great so "film makers" should leave them alone. There should be a list of movies and TV shows that should be off limits.
$$$$$
Rat Pack Oceans 11 was beyond ridiculous. Just Sammy Davis literally carrying bags of money out of a casino.Their connection is loose, but the 80s Scarface with Al Pacino is much better than the 30s version.
Both the John Wayne and the Jeff Bridges True Grit are excellent films in their own way.
The Brendan Fraser version of The Mummy is way more fun than the ole timey ones.
I prefer the George Clooney version of Ocean's 11 to the Rat Pack one (though it is fine, too).
Heat is a much better version of L.A. Takedown (though by the same director).
Both The Thing from Another World and The Thing (the 80s John Carpenter version) are great.
The Magnificent Seven (the Steve McQueen one, not the drab recent remake with Chris Pratt) is technically a remake of Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa. Both are excellent films.
I like the Lindsay Lohan version of The Parent Trap more than the 60s version.

Those are the ones that came to mind immediately.
Way to safe. The only similarity I found was a terrible love interest that couldnt act for our main dude. That and him drinking lots of coffee.Made it through Roadhouse. No fat guy in suspenders, no monster truck, no "a bear fell on me"
Any attempt at a one liner wasn't cheesy, just bad.
A couple of decent action sequences but just a bad movie overall.
The Clooney & friends remake of Ocean's 11 was great. But otherwise I agree. After thinking more and reading this thread, I’m sticking with the only true remake, not spin-off, that was truly great was True Grit.
Assault on Precinct 13 was decent enough. I thought the Magnificent 7 reboot was watchable. I can’t think of any others that didn’t suck.
I'm a huge fan of the original and other similar time period movies like Tango & Cash, Beverly Hills Cop, Lethal Weapon, Under Siege, etc. so was absolutely 100% opposed to this whole remake idea.Made it through Roadhouse. No fat guy in suspenders, no monster truck, no "a bear fell on me"

Which ones? The Mark Wahlberg one sucked. The other ones are ok.Have the Planet of the Apes remakes been good?
Yeah the post Wahlberg ones.Which ones? The Mark Wahlberg one sucked. The other ones are ok.
There's plenty of 50's Sci Fi movies that could be remade now that visual effects are so much better.I can't decide if there should be a remake of "They Live" as a serious movie or if the original should be left alone as the "classic" it is.
