Add 3 teams (assuming TX, OSU, and OU remain)
1) Louisville
2) BYU
3) AF or TCU
Replace AF/TCU with USF to get into FL also creates a travel partner for UL.

The idea... apparently is 4 - 16 team superconferences. The ACC, SEC, B1G and Pac 16.
IF this happens Iowa State WILL be 1 of the schools left without a chair when the music stops.
On a side note, I don't want this to happen, but the writing is on the wall.

I think the lynchpin is what does notre dame do with its non football sports when the big east disintegrates.

No, but we will be one of them. We have nothing to offer anyone except the fact that 40,000+ fans fill our stadium for every home game. That's it. But that won't cut it. Not by a longshot.
We offer about 100 TV sets, sarcastically speaking. The only way we get picked up is in some kind of package deal IMO. If we're on our own, we're screwed.
Seriously, can both of these conferences implode? That is a LOT of teams for other conferences to absorb.
I think that only one of these conferences will be gone... either the Big 12 or Big East, but not both.
So if OU and Texas can just kiss and make up, we could potentially become a great super conference. The Big East looks like they are just about done for, so why would we even be thinking about reaching out to them right now?
The Big 12 needs to go out and grab Louisville, BYU, and TCU right away IMO. That gets us back to 12. And then look into adding teams like Air Force, Cincy, New Mexico, and Houston to get to 16.
I know that New Mexico isn't brought up much, but they do have a pretty large TV market in Albuquerqe and Santa Fe.
I just don't see how both of these conferences fall apart? One of them, yes, but not both.

Whose idea is this? Only the media has come up with that scenario. No one who is a credible source has mentioned this possibility. All speculation.
