Of course you could also say that about teams that drop from 3A to 2A, depth is huge in high school football. (Oh and a couple stud athletes help too) :smile:

True, but if you look at the way the classes are set up, there's a big difference in enrollment from A to 1A, and from 3A to 4A. Many 2A schools can compete against 3A and 1A schools against 2A. But a lack of depth in the classes other than 1A is mostly due to a lack of participation, rather than a lack of available kids.

Before 8 man ball, many small schools either didn't or barely had enough kids to even scrimmage.

A to 1A is less than you think, I won't disagree on 3A to 4A
