Funny to see Utah on both schedules. And it would be quite the shocker in 1975 to have UCF on the conference slate considering they weren't D1 until 1984. And then no Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma in the conference.

Florida State that season would have been in their last year before Bobby Bowden came in. They lost to ISU 6-10 in front of 29,000 fans.

8 team conferences left a lot of room to do some fun things, schedule wise. At least this new conference will be able to juggle a few more things in-conference. But the OOC schedule is permanently boring.

I think us guys should honor the 50 year anniversary by all wearing leisure suits to the first game. Nothing looks as good or feels as comfortable in 100 degree heat than a turtle neck with a polyester jacket.

Yeah, I was noticing that. Five home games in an 11 game schedule? Nowadays you have schools demanding they get seven home games out of 12.

ISU had only 5 in each season '71-'75 and also '78, '82 and '84.

Seven home games in '81 and '83.

Eight in '85! (still finished only 5-6, with a "bonus" of losing to f****g Drake)

In 1970, ISU had only 4 home games(!) … 3 Big 8, 1 of 3 non-conference. That also was first season of 11-game schedule (at least for Iowa State).
