I remember seeing something on here about a month ago saying Borg was no longer with WHO. Does anybody know what happened there? I don't think anybody at the station ever said anything and if you look at his twitter account it sounds like he is in Colorado now.

I wondered the same thing. I think he grew up in Colorado so maybe a job out there?

Usually on TV when you leave on good terms they usually give you a send off. Borg just disappeared. Now they have that Sears guy.

He used to update his Facebook page regularly, now it's been deserted for quite awhile.

I've seen rumors that he wasn't renewed by WHO when his year was up.

This John Sears guy is a bit.....odd. I dunno. Anyone know if he's one of the Sears brothers that went to Ankeny back in the late 90's?

This must be the cheaper option - as I believe Shawn Terrell was put in a similar position even though he was pretty good. Just keep shuffling people through.
Meanwhile Ed and the weather crew get 5 full time meteorologists (8 if you count Fetuses of the always pregnant ones).

Is that possible? I thought the rule was once assimilated, always assimilated. Apparently, resistance was not futile for WHO.

(1000th Post! I've added your cultural and biological distinctiveness to my own.)

Murphy's blog says Sears graduated from Dowling. You have to wonder about the long-term career choice to move to Des Moines as the No. 3 (or 4 if you count Fales) sports guy though, considering what they did to Shawn Terrell and Borg. I guess it worked out for Hassel. You just have to hope the No. 2 guy leaves.

Why didn't WHO renew his contract? I thought he did excellent work. His cold cut of ISU beating OSU was phenomenal. Would link but I can't access youtube from work.

And they hired Sears as a replacement?

He seems like a nice enough guy, but definitely not from the same mold as the rest of the sports team at WHO. Always seemed a little dull on KCRG in Cedar Rapids.

Well maybe compared to Saville who I think is a goofball, but I do enjoy his work. I always thought Sears tried to act more professional in his broadcasts. I think it will be interesting to see how he fits in with that crowd though.

Update on Zach Borg. He was hired at KUSA, Channel 9 in Denver, a few months back as an editor/producer, but was fired a few weeks ago. He has claimed he got fired because someone impersonated him online, but inside word is the quality of his work was below par and he made a lot of mistakes that caused poor live broadcasts. Zach tried his cold cuts thing there, but it didn't fare as well as it did in Iowa.
