Well Done

I just think his offense is a bit of a liability against better teams. For Iowa, this is easy; it's all about the guards...and we've known that since missing out on Ulis last year. The college game is mostly all about the guards.

Your team is built like a team that can get to the Final Four, and that is not just me saying that because you beat Iowa. I believe it.

I think one of the problems is Gabe is their second best player and for some inexplicable reason Fran doesn't start him.

It's not like Woodbury does much offensively. I'd take Oleseni over him. Add me to the list wondering why he doesn't play more.

I will never understand Mad Fran's offense, or his rotation plan. It seems to me he does not leave the players out there long enough to really get into the flow of the game, and that he sticks with some players (MG and Woodbury) even though they are really not that productive. Even if some of the other guards are more of a defensive liability than MG, Woodbury or Oleasani should be able to cover some defensive lapses by them. It just seems to me that he usually does not have the most athletic players (especially for offense) on the floor together. If you are so determined to play 10 players, why not do a platoon type thing like UK kind of does, and at least let the players get used to playing together all the time?

I'm no basketball coach....but Iowa's offense just looks like a confused mess to me....and the players mostly look like they really don't want the ball in their hands, or to be counted on to take a shot.

Every offense in basketball is based on one simple thing, shooting the ball in the basket, or on another level at least having the threat of shooting the ball in the basket. Iowa just can't shoot so there is not even a threat and there is no offensive scheme that can overcome that deficiency.

Nah, their frontline is good....

Iowa doesn't have anyone on their front line that starts for Iowa State, including White. Most over-rated bunch of white guys I have ever seen. When White says there is nobody that he lines up against better than him, somebody on the Iowa coaching staff has to remind him he is not in high school anymore.

Uthoff could play some three for Fred and overall would be a lot better. Same with just about any of their players.

After listening to Fred talk about White the past 4 years, I bet Fred would get White drafted. The kid that fouled Nader would be a difference maker here when we matchup with the KUs.

Well, when you put that qualification on it, sure.

Uthoff had a chance to be a solid contributor on a good team and done blowed it.

I was actually ok with him saying that. He actually said "he didn't feel that anytime the person lining up with him is better than him." I'm ok with that. You have to have that mentality. He stated it as an opinion. It's the times when he says it like it's a fact is when I have my issues.

Classy post by Jon here. I respect anyone that can come and say that without making excuses... .

I'm trying of think of what excuse he could have come up with if he wasn't trying to stay 'classy'. When your home team is getting blown out by 25 on their home court, what is there to say?

I'm waiting for this one after the dust settles- "If Fred hadn't got his team fired up by suspending BDJ, the Hawks would have won."

It's our superbowl. Much like their play-in game against Tennessee.

Uthoff is way to soft to play Hoiball. He'd probably cry after every practice because Hogue would be dogging him so hard.

So many fans felt like we wouldn't really miss Marble this year, and I never understood that. He's the best player we've had in almost 10 years (at a minimum) and the only one last year who could consistently create his own shot. Some thought he was selfish, and at times he probably was, and they thought that might have led to guys just standing around watching and waiting for Marble to take care of things. But he's gone now, and the offense still grinds to a standstill pretty consistently in the half court. I was screaming and throwing **** all over the place, just begging players to start moving without the ball.
There is a reason I am not a D1 coach so take what I am going to say with a cube of salt. But after what I just saw.....if it was me, I would have Dickerson playing at the one, Jok at the two, Uhl at the three with White and Woodbury down low. Then just let them go. You may not win many games, and might set records for turnovers, but it definitely would be more entertaining that what is happening now. Some of guys you are playing are athletically tapped out. It's the Jess Settles syndrome. They are who they are and aren't going to get much better. Might as well start playing guys with a higher athletic ceiling and see if basketball skills can catch up.

Dickerson is hurt I think.

He was really struggling to get minutes and to do anything with them before though. They needed to add a productive guard, a shooting guard or a point guard, to pair with Gessell in the starting lineup. That's going to be the issue this year.
