Well Done

I say a lot of things and can't remember everything, but I don't remember saying this...not with what we all know point guards mean to you in college hoops. Iowa is missing two players...a consistent game shooter and a point guard...and in basketball, that is a ton.

In your defense I think it was along the lines of a "PG wasn't a necessity in this class" type of statement

Player development just hasn't been good under Fran. Basabe, White, Gesell, Olesani and to some extent Clemmons showed a lot of potential right away and have not improved all that much.

Nah, their frontline is good...but the problem is they don't have shooters who will make you play honest out to 20 feet, so the middle is muddled and their half court sets look zombie-like for stretches.
Serious miller?

The fact that Anthony Clemmons is a starter in the Big 10 pretty much says it all.

Look, it's pretty simple. Iowa has kids who play hard. That's admirable, but how far does "admirable" get ya? They just don't have the talent. Iowa State was able to do whatever they wanted...whenever they wanted. Iowa is not a bad squad, but damn...they did not belong on the same court.

I have already watched the game 3 times. The last 6 seconds of the first half and first 7 minutes of the 2nd half was something else. It was a massacre, and I loved every second of it.

Sometimes..."playing hard" just doesn't mean anything.

Jon thanks for the intelligent posts and good luck to you guys the rest of the season. I think you guys are better than you played tonight, you'll recover and put together a nice season.

Tonight just proved the talent gap Hoiberg has gained in Ames.
I believe every position for ISU is more talented than Iowa. And that includes Edozie > Woodbury.

Fred has built this program into a talented, reload not rebuild program.

Honestly, looking at benches and recruits, ISU has the advantage for the foreseeable future.

For once Jon posted on here and he replys were rather..civil.

Am I still on Cyclone Fanatic?

I'm unconvinced... think it might be a long season in Iowa City (and in Chapel Hill, too, so that win will start to pale significantly).

As with football......the Hawks are beneficiaries of playing in a really bad conference, so it may not be as long as it could.

That UNC win was seriously overrated by Hawk fans and the media. It wasn't the program changing win they think it was. Iowa will be a bubble team and UNC will probably be a 7 or 8 seed

I still think Iowa has a good team, but they need to find a heavy rotation of 7 or 8.
They need playmakers, plain and simple. What you saw last night was a team that at any one time have 3 or 4 on the court against a team that had none. They just do not have anyone who can break the defense down and stop the momentum of the other team. That was Marble. He may not have been clutch, and at time a bit selfish, but the guy could get to the basket, draw a foul, stop the clock and get to the line. That right there may have at the very least slowed down the onslaught and given the Hawks a chance.

And Hawks have their panties in a bunch because of what Niang did to the crowd?

I agree. I thought our defense on White and Uthoff was key. Also, dropping back and forcing them to play half court and shoot shots rather than free throws. On offense, we were decisive and well spaced.
