Call me weird, but if the ladies come out strong from the opening whistle I think we can win this one. Going to have to be a clean game And we need balanced officiating. Might come down to free throws. The worst thing that can happen is a repeat of games like WVU, USC or UConn where our opponent comes out and hits 6-7 threes in the first three minutes.

We did beat them twice last year. Taking a quick look it doesn't appear that either of those game KSU had a terrible shooting night from the 3. 33.3% and 40.7% respectively.

It appears that the biggest stat difference in those games were outrebounding them by 8 and 17! respectively. That makes me a bit nervous as I have noted in the season thread we are rebounding at a lower pace than last year and KSU is rebounding at a higher pace.

at the very minimum, we cannot have even one quarter where they blow us out....the WVU game was close other than the first quarter....can't dig ourselves a massive hole to dig out of, especially on the road

Iowa City
Iowa State has played eight games away from the friendly confines of Hilton Coliseum (2-6):
Result - Opponent - Shots Taken by Audi Crooks
Loss - @ WVU - 8-12 (.667)
Win - @ Arizona - 4-6 (.667)
Win - @ ASU - 9-19 (.474)
Loss - @ OSU - 12-18 (.667)
Loss - @ UCONN - 9-14 (.643)
Loss - @ IOWA - 14-22 (.636)
Loss - @ USC - 5-11 (.455)
Loss - @ UNI - 8-16 (.500)

Conclusion(s):
1) ISU WBB isn't very good on the road.
2) Despite an impressive Made Shot %, ISU doesn't do very well on the road (or versus quality opponents) when Audi takes more than 10 shots in a game. See also Utah - Loss - 11-20

Arguably, ISU's most impressive win of the year was at Arizona, where Audi only took six shots from the floor and many players contributed. This isn't an anti-Audi post - she's a great kid and a fine representative of the university. However, I'm convinced we won't "win big" if we continue to run the offense thru Audi - other teams are willing to let Audi "get hers" because they know they can block her shot, passes to her will result in turnovers and she misses too many free throws. The offense either needs to be diverse or we'll continue to lose to the better teams in the league.

Somebody said it earlier - Kansas State has never won the conference regular season title with Ayoka Lee on the team for parts of seven seasons.

I feel better about this one than WVU. That’s about the extent I’m willing to go out on a limb but I am optimistic!

Those shot attempted and made aren’t that different than in our wins.

I really think our losses are far more on poor guard play.

I've rewound that a couple times, and I'm still not sure how that was defensive foul lol
