Visiting Hilton for the first time...Suggestions?

Umm...no. KU fans and that dumb-*** chant are like new parents with an ugly baby. You are the only ones who think it is cool. Unless you think "GOOO BIIIIGGG REEEEDDD" was also super awesome, in which case we might as well just direct you to the Duff Ave. McDonald's because you clearly have awful taste.

When presidents claim it as the "greatest chant in all of sports", I think that's a pretty solid endorsement. I understand you all hating it, you've heard it so many times at the end of games we play each other.

Side note: former Cyclone, Marcus Fizer has occasionally been at the gym I play basketball at and that guy is still an absolute BEAST. Shame his NBA career didn't pan out better.

At first I thought you were alright... now you're defending this chant and I ain't liking you so much anymore...

There's a little British pub down on South Duff, too - the problem would be that getting to it would be sort of a pain in the butt after the game with all of the traffic. It probably wouldn't be packed, though. If you want the best bar in Ames, I echo the others that say Welch Ave - it's just going to be hard to get into.

The Mucky Duck Pub has AWESOME fish and chips!! Worth the price and even an half order is filling. https://www.facebook.com/TheMuckyDuckPub

Ooh good call. Cabs after the game to a bar and then back to the hotel might be easiest...especially since I have no clue where I'd be walking and likely would get lost. Hopefully I'd end up wandering past the sorority houses haha

If you walk to Campustown after the game (not a bad choice, it's pretty easy to find), you'll go right through that area. Maybe that's something that will influence your plans.

It's gonna be warmer than usual, but it isn't summer during the day.

Alright, folks. Time to actually pay attention at work. Wanted to come here and get some good suggestions and I genuinely appreciate all of the kind help. I'll leave before more people bash the Rock Chalk and I get defensive haha.

Best of luck on Monday!!

Uh oh, I think you've taken a turn down the wrong path at this point....at least you have some decent suggestions in your pocket.

Hahaha I knew I would get some backlash from defending the chant. All meant in a playful manner on my end. You all have been welcoming and friendly to me. Cheers to a good game.

They talk nice and pat the locals on the head.
I also don't believe that Obama is looking for public speaking tips from our football coach, but that's what he said on campus here.

And, point of order on the chant, don't ignore our history of beating Kansas around here. Or ignore it and be painfully disappointed.

I just take that sad cultish chant as a bizarre devotion to the only thing Kansas has to speak of, outside of a wildly violent little state history.
