Kinda weird that Northern Iowa is paired up in the bracket right next to us. Would be weird to see UNI knock off Wisconsin to set up a second round matchup with the Cyclones!

Rock on, ladies! C. Johnson has led ISU to back-to-back tourney appearances now, a really nice accomplishment for the young coach and budding program. Getting by Wisco in the 2nd round won't be easy considering this is in Madison and they draw crowds over 10k (for any U of I readers on here, k means "1000"). I wouldn't be surprised if UNI gives the Badgers a tussle in the first round however.

This is a great accomplishment by coach Johnson. I golfed with her at a Cyclone outing a couple of years ago and she is a class act all the way!!!!!

This program is going nowhere but up in the future with Christy as coach. Her coaching lineage includes John Cook @ Neb. and Pete Waite at Wisco... plus her recruiting ties in both Neb. and Wisco (v-ball hotbeds) are huge (as shown by this years recruiting class). Perhaps someday Cyclone Nation will start to embrace the v-ball program like the women's b-ball team... I think it's already starting to happen (albeit slowly) considering ISU's v-ball attendance was in the top half of the Big 12 this season.

How do I put this gently???

The girl can flat out party!!!:notworthy::yes:

Seriously. She's fanstastic. College All-American. Trained with US national B team for a while. Has an excellent pedigree of coaching. Terrific person. Met her husband only once, but he seems to be an upstanding fella too.

They will do great things here.

BTW, Iowa has everybit the volleyball talent that Nebraska does - if not more. Problem is it has historically gone out of state, to UNL or Wisc. Not sure that Wisc is much better than Iowa either. Best recruiting grounds in the midwest is easily Ill. But so much of volleyball is coaching - and CJ will excel at that .

But really - the lady can party.

I didn't mean to insinuate that there is no v-ball talent in Iowa. UNI historically has been the best D-I program in the state and taken its share of Iowans, and yes many have gone to neighboring state powerhouse programs. One of my girlfriends' teammates at Wisco on their 2000 Final 4 team played at Dubuque Wahlert. All I know is a lot of UW's and kNU's rosters have a lot of home-grown talent on them. I'm sure Christy will scour Iowa for the best talent and get them to Ames instead of Lincoln of Madison.
