I think its a good hire for the program. I never thought when I moved to Columbus this fall that the Buckeyes and Cyclones would be even in wins here the weekend after Thanksgiving. Whatever comes from the NCAA I think Meyer will be a good guy to get the program turned back around and doing things right.

Happened to turn on the press conference. One of the lowest energy, contrived and least sincere acceptance speeches I've ever heard. Speed-read it directly from a piece of paper.

Yeah, it was really lackluster. Although that's fine, maybe he's just gonna get straight to work there.

Hmm. Maybe it is his new method of avoiding medical anxiety: he'll only make prepared statements to his players, staff and media.

It'll be like having Jim Tressel back! This time, with 100% more psychological distress!

Good grief, if I suffered from his fairly obvious (and obviously severe) stress disorder, I'd take my millions, my happy family, and stay home.

I imagine Florida fans are a little bit ******. What happened to the whole "can't coach because I want to be with my family and preserve my health" thing...

Really going out on a limb there. But you're right, hiring a coach who's 104-23 and has won two national titles is probably a good move. He's going to absolutely dominate the B10.

Just like he did the SEC and wherever the heck Utah is (lol). Put him at Texas and they dominate the B12 again.

Yep, a re-energized Urban Meyer at his dream job with lots of money to throw at assistants, that is not something I would want to deal with. I think he'll win a title within three years.

I actually like the hire. We don't beat OSU anyway, so this shouldn't change much. It will help bring some life back to the B10, which is much needed. Plus we don't play OSU yearly, so Iowa's situation isn't gonna change much. If Hoke does the same with Michigan, the B10 could be somewhat relevant again.

This Exactly. I expect he'll be making hires and relegating ALL of the really stressful things that he can realistically relegate. (Part of that being coaching hires with really good recruiting skills and pipelines) Lord knows he has as much money behind him as he wants. (I'd like to believe it would be all legitimate considering everything...but probably not)

He lost a ton of assistants during his last few years at Florida which I'm sure took its toll on him. By keeping Fickel on the staff he will have a DC who's dream job is OSU, and who is young enough to wait around for Meyer to retire.

You should tell this to your comrades, they think the Big 10 is better than the Big 12.

If Iowa bounces back in the coming years, you might change your tune. You might not like the hire so much if Iowa runs into an Urban Meyer coached team in Indy with a BIG 10 championship on the line. If tOSU doesn't get slammed with probation Urban Meyer will have that team turned around in no time. With that said, he could be walking into the same situation Lane Kiffin has been in the last two years at USC. All dressed up and no where to go.

Even when we were good we never beat them. I guess if Iowa was back to the Brad Banks days and we lost to them, then maybe. But ah well. Not anytime soon, methinks.
